Customer Reviews:

  • Elegant and Stylish MacBook Sleeve
The Be.ez LaRobe Allure Sleeve is a very stylish way to store your MacBook. It is meant for the 13.3 inch model of the MacBook, but may fit other notebooks of a similar size. The sleeve has a very lovely brown striped pattern. It opens and closes with ease. The material that the sleeve is made out of seems to be sturdy, although it is easy to imprint the foam if you are not careful. It provides a good amount of cushioning for the notebook, although I would not consider it heavy duty. There is no strap to hang the sleeve from, so this would be good protection if you are intending to place the notebook in a suitcase or tote or something.

I am not sure how impact absorbent the material is, however, for everyday use, this sleeve is very cushioned and attractive. I catch myself wondering if the fabric on the exterior of the case would easily absorb a stain or no. Potential buyers take note that the sleeve has no additional storage for pens, mouses, or anything extra like that. It is meant for just sliding a MacBook into.

At any rate, the sleeve is good for basic protection against bumps. I wouldn't say that it is heavy duty (again), but it certainly gets the job of protecting notebooks done....more info
  • Every detail is high quality
I wondered why in the world I needed memory foam for my MacBook, but now understand why. It is protective, dense, lightweight, and if you put your head on it while you are sleeping and the sky seldom falls, it makes perfect sense to encase your laptop investment in this material.

My MacBook of 2008 fits perfectly inside this sleeve and it is not a snug fit. I do not carry anything else inside this case because I do not want to mar the computer or the sleeve. It's that good. Every seam is perfectly stitched, the piping surrounding both exterior edges is perfectly finished at the bottom. Each end of the zipper is secured with a woven material strip running horizontally, connecting front to back. The zipper pulls are heavyweight and have a curvy shape which fits very well in the hands. The stripes in the fabric are blacks and browns and they are really well done, giving an earthy look, almost woody.

This is a simple sleeve that securely protects not only the hardware of your laptop, but the software and anything you've created on the hard drive. If all versions are as nice as this one, they've got a winner with the series....more info
  • Well made in China
Be.ez 100695 LaRobe Allure Sleeve for 13.3-Inch MacBook (Moka) is a cute cover for my MacBook. It is 5 mm thick Low Resilience Polyurethane. The Cover is called moka and it is various colors of brown stripes. My MacBook fits snuggly in it. The zipper looks solid. There are no pockets. I like that this cover doesn't take up much space and can either be the cover or protect the MacBook in a carryall bag. I'm thinking of buying another as a graduation present....more info

  • Simply solid
I was so dissapointed that this laptop case, sleeve, or whatever you like to call it did not include an additional area for the power brick. It's so important to me that a product like this be able to actually transport my complete laptop all together. In all likelihood, this design in meant for use in a backpack or purse than can also handle the brick.

BUT, this sleeve has still become the only way I transport my HP Pavilion tx2500 tablet. It's just soooooo much better than the laptop sleeve I was using before.

The case is well built. I am very rough on things like this and I can already tell this will be in great shape in 5 years. The zippers in particular are great. The foam is similar to memory foam. it's thick, it seems to hold the computer really well, and it feels like it absorbs a lot more shock than the sleeve I'd been using. Also, it looks great. Not boring and matte, but conservative enough that I have no worries about looking like a Spice Girl.

This isn't just for Mac users. This sleeve fits my smooth and shiny HP Pavilion TX 2500 (similar in size to many HP tablets) and to a lesser but acceptable extent my IBM Thinkpad Z60t. If you need a sleeve to protect your machine from roughing around in a bag, this is an excellent choice.

Even though I think it's stupid not to include a little place for the brick, this is a design element that is part of the product identity and it's not really fair to hold this against the product. The product is extremely well made and I have to give it full credit....more info
  • Unusually good
This laptop sleeve is not the same as most. It is not made out of the same material as a wet suit. It's foam, which is actually hard and not very flexible. In my opinion it serves very good purpose of protecting your laptop, not only from nicks or mild scratches, but also from sharp and obtrusive damage. ...more info
  • Almost perfect....
This is everything you need in a laptop sleeve except for the "style" factor.

It's a perfect fit for my 13" unibody macbook. It's sturdy and the memory foam exterior is pretty amazing! It keeps the laptop safe from dings and rough handling even when rolling around in a duffle bag or tote bag, where the sleeve isn't sitting in a snug pocket.

I would have given the sleeve 5 stars if it was more stylish - the brown color with the stripes is not particularly appealing and definitely belongs in a bag. You wouldn't get any style points for walking into a coffee shop with it in your hand - that being said, if it's function over form you're after, this is the sleeve for you....more info
  • stylish, functional, high quality materials
The La Robe Allure Sleeve is made up of lightweight memory foam that feels like it offers great protection. The size is nice, too - it isn't too snug, so the zipper is easy to operate, but it isn't so loose that my macbook slides around in the case. The sleeve also has a high quality zipper. The pulls (there are two) are painted metal, with a contour for your thumb and finger. The zipper teeth feel sturdy and the zipper operates very smoothly, without any "catches." I like this pattern because the neutral brown gives it a professional feel and the stripes give it some style. My case has stayed clean, despite being near several dogs and pollen. ...more info
  • Protection in style!
First of all, please keep in mind that this product is designed for the 13.3" Macbook, as stated on the website. Therefore, if you plan to purchase it for non-Macbook laptop, then you must research the size specifications.
(+) Both MBA and the black Macbook fit very well.
(+) The sleeve came in a ziplock bag. The design of the packaging, "finger-fitting" zipper, and inner lips that protects the laptop from being scratched by the zipper, suggests good industrial design.
(+) There is a wide range of color selection, allowing a more "unique design" for each individual customer.
(+) The memory foam feels cardboard-like on first touch; yet it deforms on pressure allowing good traction. It is rather thick (5mm) and probably would provide good protection if you place your laptop in a bag/briefcase. Personally, I don't think it would provide better protection from impact or sharp objects, than any other "thick" sleeves.

My purchase decision: the current price range (<$25) is affordable. I have tried the Incase neoprene, the Caselogic, and the Marware Sportfolio sleeves for my MBA, 13" MB and 15" MBP. I would more likely purchase this one over the others because of affordability, emphasis on style, and the memory foam....more info
  • Excellent product
It's just great, the materials are top notch. However, it's a little too big for the new aluminum MacBook, but (maybe) because of the innner material, it doesn't move inside....more info
  • Amazing attention to detail, sparse features.
I have had several laptop bags and two different sleeves. LaRobe has really put in some good details on this. I really like it. No, I ENJOY it. Its the kind of product that makes you feel really good.

Overall, its a well constructed sleeve, that has great attention to detail. My laptop, in a clear acrylic protective case already, fit like a glove. Without the clear acrylic case, the laptop did have some wiggle room. Some people might find that room nice because its easier to put it in. Like another sleeve I own, the features are a bit sparse, and i'll explain why thats good and bad in a moment.

    1) The low density polyurethane acts like "memory foam". If you hold your hand down on it, it molds to the shape of your hand. And slowwwwwly it re-expands. (see the pic I uploaded). This is excellent protection for my MacBook. It also acts as a moldable grip. Its really pleasant to hold. I really loved ths feature.
    2) The zippers are ergonomic, making this seem like a "high end" product. (see pic)
    3) The overall construction is excellent.
    4) It has a little room left over, perhaps for a power cord, USB cord, or whatnot. Or maybe just to make it easy for customers to fit it in. But I would not want to put the little wall brick in it. I would carry that in my backpack.

Given the long life of the battery in the MacBook, and the lack of space for the wall adapter, this sleeve is perfect for light use away from home.

Now, there are two features that are "missing". They actually aren't on any sleeve I've used, but, they are things that I miss.
    1) A strap to put your hand through for added grip. It would be nice when tucking the sleeve under your arm. But, I think the sleeve will last longer without it.
    2) No interior pocket of any kind (see my pic of the interior). I would have liked something that could hold a sheet or two of paper. However, my other sleeve doesn't have that either, and all pockets get saggy or can snag things on the way in. So maybe is for the best.

I won't remove a star for either detail. I think its not in the nature of the product type.

I am generally a harsh critic, but I found all the right things in this cover, and the things its missing...well... I can really understand why they were left off... Overall I rate it a solid buy. You will like this product....more info
  • Solid laptop sleeve
This is the first laptop sleeve I've owned. It fits my 2009-generation 13" MacBook perfectly, though there's not an inch of room for the power adapter, cables, or anything else. It seems exceptionally sturdy, and would probably provide enough cushion to help the laptop survive a short fall (though I'm not testing that!). The Moka pattern is very subtle--from a distance this will just look dark brown.

I do wish that it wasn't shipped in a thick plastic sleeve (recyclable, but still...) with all the product blah blah on the outside. It seems wasteful to ship a carrying case inside a package. ...more info
