 This product was given as a Christmas gift. Did not work. Returned for new one and it also did not work. Would not load software, would not allow pictures to be added from computer, cannot find software, cannot find drive destination, etc... Tons of errors!...more info - Simply awful
 The good news is, it looks pretty and could not be easier to set up. The software supplied quickly converts your images and transfers them through a USB cable to the frame's internal memory.
The bad news: The quality of the image is HORRIFIC...PRIMITIVE.
The colors are muddy and color shifted. The resolution is abysmal.
Save your money - mine's going back.

 Mar 2009 review: I bought one of these in Dec07 and it is an acceptable product, it display a good picture. While not perfect and a bit expensive, and warranty too short (90 days) it will display pictures that many will find pleasing. For a first generation of these it is fine. HOWEVER I had one feature that did not work. I called Tech Support, the agent was a bit testy and instructions on how to verify defect was a struggle due to bad & impatient communications by the rep. However it was finally agreed unit needed to be returned and I was told to fax in proof of purchase and then a RA & Shipping instructions would be mailed. That was Feb 10. I waited until Feb23 and had no communications back. I re-faxed and re-mail request after being unable to get a hold of a live person at Tech Supp & leaving vm msgs. Nothing has happened and again today 9 Mar tried again get a hold of live person at Tech Supp and main Company number, again no answer. It is totally impossible to communicate with any live person. Feels like the company went down or is under duress. I can't recommend this product if you want warranty or support. Wait until company revives, if it does.  I bought this picture frame in December--after buying a different frame for my parents, I really liked the idea so I wanted one for myself. When I got the frame initially, it worked great. It was attractive, easy to load, easy to operate, and I especially liked the timer setting. Less than 2 months later, I was vacuuming and accidentally unplugged the frame. When I plugged it back in, it wouldn't turn on. I tried connecting it to my PC and nothing changed. When I held the "on" button down, it would flash the "loading" screen and then shut down again.
Incredibly frustrated (and remembering I had read about that happening to other people in reviews I had read), I contacted SmartParts at the e-mail address they provided on their website. A week later I hadn't gotten a response, so I e-mailed them again. Another week later (this was my third attempt), I resent the e-mail to every e-mail address on the website: tech support, sales, returns--and STILL didn't get a response. Not knowing what else to do, I contacted Amazon's customer support. I received an e-mail less than 12 hours later advising me that, although the return window is 30 days, they would make an exception for me and mail me a new frame free of charge AND provide me with a paid label to return the defective item.
Although I don't even want the new frame, I'm extremely grateful for the customer service provided by Amazon. I can't believe that SmartParts was so absolutely disappointing in their customer service and I'm EXTREMELY disappointed in the performance of the frame. I will NEVER, EVER buy anything from that manufacturer again.
I should have listened to the reviews, but I wanted a nice-looking frame for a reasonable price...unfortunately that's not what I got. I would advise anyone reading this to buy a comprable Panasonic instead....more info - Quit working after 80 days
 Was easy to set up, looked good initially. However, it completely died after about 80 days. Can't even power it up, black screen. Dead as a doornail. I'd give it zero stars if I could. Oh, and don't bother calling the SmartPart technical support line, no response....more info - Great if you need a doorstop

 I bought this frame as a Father's Day gift for my husband in June 2008. In March 2009, the frame stopped working. The display was grainy, and the frame wouldn't load photos. We plugged the frame into an AC adapter from another of our digital frames and realized the adapter was the problem. Unable to locate a 5V adapter in any of our local stores, we ordered an adapter from Smartparts. We received an email confirmation of our order, but we have yet to receive the adapter. I've tried to contact the technical support/only contact number listed on the company's website. Each time I've called, I've gotten a recording saying all technicians are busy and to leave a message. Apparently, the company never checks its voice mail, since I've yet to receive a return call. My husband loved this frame for the few months it worked, but I would not recommend this product to anyone.  This Wifi picture frame was reasonably easy to set up, the only difficulty being setting up RSS.
The frame started locking up at random times. Sometimes it would just display the same picture forever and sometimes it would jump into the menu system and then lock up. The only way to regain control was to remove the power and re-start the frame.
I called customer service and they provided me with the delightful insight, "Well, it's not supposed to do that!" They arranged for an RMA and it only took them one week after my call for them to send me the email with the link to the UPS shipping information.
Two weeks after they received it, I called them (waited 50 mins on the phone) to see what was going on. They said, "We're backed up from Christmas and there are some delays in sending out the replacements. I checked and your RMA number and it is going to be sent out in the next 2 days."
Two weeks later and the frame has not yet arrived. Furthermore, now, when you call customer service, all you get is a recording prompting you to leave a message! They're not even answering the CS lines any more! It has now been more than two full months since Christmas.
Stay away from Smartparts!!!

 I bought this frame for my parents so they could have pictures of their first grandson. My parents do not use computers so I need to load the pictures when I visit. The frame is easy to use and the pictures are crisp. No complaints. I would recommend this to anyone.  I too did extensive research before I bought the Smartparts SP1200 digital picture frame, but there is only so much you can find out until you buy it. The picture is very good, colors are great, and pretty much makes the cost worth it, but it is a very limited product otherwise.
For instance, it doesn't recognize directories on the memory cards you plug in. I got an 8GB Kingston USB thumb drive and had to dump all the pictures onto it (several thousand) without being able to split them up into seasons, or vacations, or years or whatever. Tech tip: make sure to copy the USB drive back to your hard drive so you have a copy of what you put on it, and so if something goes awry you don't have to re-do everything.
It also does not play back the pictures sequentially but jumps around a bit. I checked the web site (www.smartpartsproducts.com) and they just had a lame suggestion that pictures would play in the order copied. Not true. I had several multi-picture sequences, and though they were made and copied in groups they still did not play sequentially.
On the plus side I simply plugged in the thumb drive while it was turned off and after powering up it automatically started the slide show. It also plays the 30-second movies from my little point-and-shoot digital camera (.mov files) but will only play .wma files for music, and who uses files in that format?
The remote helps, because you can pause the slide show and go back and forth if you want to look longer. Speaking of that, the slowest speed for frame changes was about 11 seconds, and the fastest is about 5 seconds. It only has slow, medium and fast, so again not much flexibility there. The transitions are cool, and you can pick a random order or select one of your favorites to use all the time.
I got this so I could give it to my very tech-impaired mom (70 years old) so she could see more of her grandkids and great-grandkids. After a while I want to be able to send her another thumb drive so she can just swap them out and look at pictures to her heart's content. She told us she didn't want a bunch of printed pictures because they just get boxed and stored, but she should really enjoy this. We got the larger 12.1 inch screen because she has vision problems.  I received this frame as a gift. It was very easy to set up. Initially I loved it. I called the person who gave it to me with sincere thanks. The picture quality was great, my pictures looked better than when they were actually printed. After one week the frame went blank. I thought it was unplugged but not so. The message on the screen read card error. I tried a number of troubleshooting options to no avail. I removed my memory card from the frame and put it back in my camera and received an error message through my camera. I then purchased a new memory card and took pictures with it in my camera. I put the new memory card in the frame and again received an error message. I put the same new card back into my camera and it read an error message. The card was fine before I put it in this frame. This frame is not a quality product. It looks nice and would be great if it didn't remove photos and ruin memory cards....more info - great quality, easy to program
 I bought this as a gift. I transferred a friend's lifetime of photos onto an SD card on my PC along with a couple classical tunes from a CD. It was so easy and then all you do is plug in the card, turn on the power, and the photos are displayed in screenshow format with the music in the background. My friend was thrilled that his life in photos (73 years) had been digitized so he could enjoy it with his family. The quality of the frame is excellent and the screen is large enough for everyone in the room to see it. I'm no computer whiz and this was EASY!

 When this product works, it works well. However, if you have a problem, support is almost non-existent.
Recently, I tried to load a card of additional pictures to my SPX8 frame. After a reasonable period, it stated "Optimization Complete" and entered the slide show. However, the pictures are not on the frame. All that is there are the the pictures I started with.
After multiple tries, I decided to use the frame controls to delete all the pictures and start over. I went through the steps to "Delete All" and was presented with a progress bar indicating the deletion was happening. When it completed, the frame entered the slideshow mode, using only the folders page as the image. When the frame was turned off and back on, the original 877 pictures all reappeared.
Finally, I connected the USB cable to my computer, viewed the General folder and deleted the 877 pictures there. When I went through the Windows "Safely Remove Hardware" steps and disconnected the USB cable, the original 877 pictures all reappeared.
I have called customer support and sent numerous messages. The only reply I received was a voicemail stating they were backlogged and would contact me in 48-72 hours. That was 13 days (9 business days) ago. ...more info - GREAT PRODUCT!!

 We received the SyncPix SPX7E for Christmas 2008. We spent a lot of time troubleshooting the frame with no success in getting it to show any pictures. It turned on just fine but never did automatically begin showing pictures as the manual said it would. In Jan, '09 we contacted SmartParts and we were told to return the frame as it was defective. The representative told us that upon their receipt of the frame they would ship out a brand new one to us. It's now mid-April. We have never received our new frame. Furthermore, the telephone #'s for Smartparts have been disconnected and there has been no response to my numerous emails to them. If anyone has any suggestion on what to do next, I'd love to hear them. In the meantime, we are out our frame and seemingly have no way of replacing it! I'm amazed that this brand of frame is still being sold as the company seems to be out of business!...more info - Great Price For A Great Produst
 This product is reasonablly priced and pretty darn easy to set up and use. The frame also has a very clear picture image. I liked the frame well enough that I purchased a second one after I had gotten the first one and a third one for a friend. I would recomend this frame for the price to anyone.

 Buyer Beware! My Smartparts display didn't work out of the box. I called their tech support and they were very rude. They had me ship it back for replacement. But I never received a replacement! Now they wont reply to emails or voicemail. They must be out of business or at least not interested in helping customers. It was a total rip-off. If yours works when you get it, good for you.  I purchased the SmartParts SP8EM and it quit working after about six weeks. I contacted Amazon who would not do anything because it was sold through Capital Electorics on Amazon.com. I contacted Capital Electronics who would not do anything because their return policy is 15 days. I contacted SmartParts several times by email wiht no response and then I called their Tech Support and the number had been disconnected. I then call their Headquarters and spoke with a lady who promised to send me a replacement which never came. I called headquarters again and the phone number is not in service. The sad thing is Amazon and Capital Electronics are still selling this product with a worthless warranty and making money with no thought to their customers....more info - Different
 I purchased this item from Crutchfield and it turns out you don't get the item descripted on Amazon. You actually get SPX12L which doesn't have the Album feature or the ability to view slides from 1sec to 1 hr or to view slides randonly. It only provides fast,normal,slow.  This is a great buy. We purchased 10 of them as Christmas gifts. After receiving them and putting pictures on them, we were very impressed with the ease of doing so. A previous frame that we bought required much effort getting the pictures sized to the frame. With this model it sizes them automatically. The pictures come out clear and true to color. It offers optional ways to store pictures, including internal memory. We are very pleased with this product.  This digital photo frame is perfect for my father-in-law's 70th Birthday. I've put tons of memories and music on it. I'm still adding more and can't wait to give it to him next month. I know he will LOVE it! It is so easy to use. My 11 year old daughter is the one that put most of the pictures on it. The picture quality and sound is perfect!  My husband just purchased this product, just because was ship. I think for the price is not bad. The quality picture is ok, not GREAT, but ok. Easy set up and instructions. Yes I will recomend this product, but there are better products, like kodak and Sony, which one of these will be my next purchase....more info - Never again
 Was happy with the frame for about a year, then it died for no apparent reason. Contacted their customer service department who was completely useless and said that all they could do was offer to sell me another at 1/2 price.
I don't know about the rest of you, but when I pay good money for a product of this nature, I expect to get more than a year out of it and if I don't expect the company to be concerned enough about their reputation to make good.
I'll go with someone who stands behind their product next time....more info
