Customer Reviews: - CHEAP!
Santa brought this for my six-year-old son, and the resulting tears from its constant breaking have left him doubting the goodness of the jolly old elf. "Why would he bring me a toy that constantly breaks?" Like other reviewers, I wish I could give it less than one star. [...] is a lot of money to spend to have to fix something with sawed-off pieces of pencil. If it had not been the ONLY thing he wanted for Christmas, I would chuck it in the garbage right now....more info - Dont buy - Read earlier reviews
I bought this for my 5 year old son and saw him get frustrated for hours trying to put the legs in place. We finally fixed it by using the pencil trick as mentioned by one of the earlier reviewers but what is the point of putting down $100 when you have to do all the work to fix it. The manufactures should retract this product or fix it before selling any more units. If I could give it zero stars I would....more info - Impressive.....
I recieved this as a bday gift from my girlfriend. I won't reiterate the features and rave about it's size and features. Others have already done that. IMO, this is definitely one of the best Vehicle/playsets made for the line, topped only by the Millenium Falcon. I heard about the leg issue after the fact, but have not had any issues. Being that this is a newer one, it may have the new legs on it. Mine has been sitting on the floor for a few days and I have not found it toppled over due to a leg seperating. In fact, the only time one did come off, is when I stood up quickly, my leg asleep and my 200lbs came down at the base of one of the center legs and it popped off. I won't hold that against it.
That said, I think that while this is touted as a vehicle(it does have small wheels) it is certainly more of a playset(read play on and in and around). Much like the MF is. Like the MF, the sounds, lights, features and detail in this is great. Certainly, if you have the gimp legs with yours, contact Hasbro and they will send the replacements, and they should have no problem....more info - AT-TE Tank a COMPLETE rip off!
I wish there was a way to give this toy LESS than one star. I'd give it a negative 100 star rating if I could, it is that horrible. Be warned now, save your hundred dollars to buy something that is actually WORTH the money and save yourself frustration, anger, and disappointment.
My son turned 10 years old on Sunday. He's been saving his hard earned allowance for a very long time (he gets only $[...] a month so I'm talking a looooooong time). He is a huge fan of Star Wars goodies and has collected a good number of items other than this one over the years. Imagine our extreme disappointment and sadness (especially his) when we finally took his saved allowance and birthday money to go out and buy this toy only to get it home and have it fall apart immediately! And I don't mean a little bit either, it's a hunk of junk!!!!
Hasbro should be ASHAMED to have marketed such a toy that obviously never went through any sort of quality testing what so ever. The hatch doors on this toy fly open at the slightest amount of play. And you want to hear the real kicker??? The legs of this toy that are supposed to make it the "walker" that it is CAN'T EVEN PROPERLY SUPPORT THE BODY WEIGHT OF THE TANK PART ITSELF. Yes, the legs fly off left and right and every which way at the lightest amount of pressure, sometimes with no pressure at all (this morning I walked past it and the middle leg fell right off).
Yes, we assembled it correctly. Yes, we reassembled it 18 different ways just to make sure. I looked online for any tips or tricks to make this total waste of $[...]+ more usable for my son. I came up with nothing.
Now I am faced with the decision of gluing the legs on permanently (not what I want to do, but my son realllly, really wants to play with this god-awful item) or drive it all the way back to the toy store (an hours drive in both directions = a entire evening after work shot needlessly) to get a refund that I hope above all else that they will give to us after they see this piece of junk toy.
Am I angry and upset? You bet I am. I even wrote a letter of complaint to Hasbro's online customer service department after messing with it trying to get it to stay together. I gave up after 2 hours and 40 minutes of trying. Did I hear a word back from Hasbro about my complaint? Anything at all? A useful tip? I type of glue to try (as if I should even have to resort to glue at all)? An apology to a very disappointed little boy??????
Nope. Nada. Nothing at all. Not even an acknowledgment of the complaint. And why should they care? After all they happily have my son's hard earned hundred bucks in their pockets. Why care about customer satisfaction and consumer relations now?
Do yourself a huge favor and skip this purchase. Spread the word: It's not even stable enough to sit on a collector's shelf. A slight breeze might knock the whole thing over! Legs and all.

My child had this AT-TE toy at the top of his christmas list for months. So Santa dropped over $100 on it. Turns out the joints connecting the legs to the body of the vehicle cannot support the vehicles weight. If the vehicle is touched one of the legs inevitably snaps-off and the vehicle crashes to the ground rendering it unplayable. My boy is frustrated to the point where he doesn't attempt to play with the very toy he has dreamed about for months. Save your $100!...more info - Don't buy this vehicle!!
My son received this At-Te vehicle for Christmas (it was the ONLY thing he wanted) and from the moment he opened it he has been frustrated! The legs continually fall off and I am sick and tired of putting them back on. This is becoming increasingly frustrating for him and I can't believe Hasbro can charge [...] for this junk. I e-mailed Hasbro directly to tell them how disappointing the quality of this toy is. I know some customers can fix this problem with tubes, etc., but personally no toy should need such fixing. WASTE OF MONEY!!!!...more info - Save your money
I purchased this AT-TE for my son for Christmas...he is a HUGE Star Wars fan! We put it together, and the legs began falling off. The the gun portion that fits on top keeps falling off...sometimes the sounds/lights work, sometimes they don't. I ended up gluing the legs on because my son and I were so frustrated with this cheaply made (yet VERY expensive)toy. Shame on Hasbro. DON'T BUY THIS TOY!!!!...more info - Replacement legs to be sent from Hasbro
My son (8) received this for Christmas purchased through Amazon.com. Like many others have posted the legs detach so very easily that the toy now sits in his room not being played with.
Today I called Hasbro and they are aware of the legs detaching and will be sending out replacement legs next week. I will revise my review upon receipt of these legs and a test run by my son.
The reason I am writing this review is that while speaking with CS at Hasbro I was told that the problem had been addressed and new models are being made where the legs do not fall off. Apparently the model I purchased from Amazon.com is one of the older models and probably why the price was significantly lower.
Other than the leg problem, my son was very excited to get the toy. I'm hoping these new legs will make him excited all over again. Please check back in a couple of weeks for my updated review with the new improved legs....more info - Son loved this, but legs kept falling off......
We bought this toy for my son's birthday, and he loved it. I assembled the toy, which was easy and straight forward. The only problem is that the legs that snap onto the body, did not seem to attach very firmly. It has 6 legs, and would stand just fine, once they were in place, but as with most 7 year old boys, my son likes to move this thing around. As soon as he made even modest movements with this toy the legs would fall off. At first, he did not mind, because he said it was easy to reattach, but after about 15 min of this, he got very frustrated and agreed that it would be best to return this product....more info - Hasbro's AT-TE Walker - a true let down
I promised my little guy his Star Wars justice.
The AT-TE Walker is not durable and is of poor quality for such a costly price.
My son has collected many good quality Star Wars toys, figures and vehicles and this is the only one that is a true let down.
As soon as you put it together and attempt to move it, the vehicle falls apart.
Hasbro's "contact us" site is continuously down.
Please do not buy this toy if your child wishes to play with it....more info - sure it's expensive, but...
it's awesome - and much bigger than I thought it would be. My young Star Wars fan hasn't stopped playing with it since he got it. We were both pleasantly surprised with how large and solid it is, and all the cool noises and actions it does. My son thinks it's so cool that you can push a button and it makes a heavy machinery type sound as the back cargo doors slowly open and lower to the ground, and I'll confess, I thought it was pretty slick myself. My only complaint, and it's really not a big deal, is the legs have a tendency to pop off rather easily and it does take a little care on the kids part not to constantly knock them off - but they are also easy to snap back on.
So yes, it does cost a lot of money, but if your kid is a die-hard Star Wars fan like mine is, then this is a must have toy and will make him the envy of all his friends....more info - AT-TE leg fix
We purchased this item for our son for Christmas. We were very disappointed to find that the legs would not stay on. This is a known problem as others have posted. I did find a phone number on another post. Hasbro customer service - 800-327-8264. I called, they were very nice. They asked for the date code from the bottom of the walker. They took my information and I received a new full set of legs within a week. These work great and my son loves the toy!...more info - Eds starwars toy
My son has a colection and needed this to beef it up some. It made him very happy...more info - No problem with the legs
My 6 year old son really wanted this for Christmas. I was a little skeptical after reading all of the reviews but figured since there was a way to fix the legs, we'd try it. We went out and bought the vinyl tubing before Christmas so that we'd be prepared. My son has been playing with this toy non-stop for 2 days now and we haven't had one single problem with the legs -- and we never even had to use the vinyl tubing trick. It looks like Hasbro might have fixed the problem. ...more info - THE LEGS DO NOT STAY ON!!!!!
A friend and I both purchased this AT-TE for our boys. Both of us had problems with the legs staying on. Her husband was able to adjust the screwes to make it work, but you can only play with it "carefully", or they fall off, which is a little riduculous. I have not been able to adjust the screws to make it work. Adjusting the screws is NOT part of the directions. What a disappointing christmas toy!...more info
