• good product for the price
  Decided to buy this after reading tons of reviews. Am satisfied with the saw and glad I bought it. I don't think you can get a better saw at the price. Why not 5 stars? The directions are not very clear. If I can get it put together, anyone can. But it takes some patence. The other thing it really needs is a laser. Granted, for this price I didn't really expect one but ended up buying an add on after using for awhile....more info
• Decent saw, 1st one arrived broken had to replace
  The saw works well and is good for the price. The cast body base isn't very thick and the first saw arrived broken, cracked and bent near the hole in the corner where the saw gets bolted to a workbench. This may be because it ships in a small factory box that then gets put inside another huge generic brown cardboard box for shipping with plenty of room to bang around inside. One or two small pieces of brown packing paper are loosely put around the factory box but there's tons of sloppy room between the boxes and the corners of the factory box arrived crushed both times. This kept me waiting on a project for a few days and that pissed me off. Amazon shipped me a new one for free and sent UPS to pick up the broken one. Time is money though, and this poor secondary packaging wasted my time. Luckily the 2nd saw was intact and immediately put to use.
  
  The instructions aren't very good, I would have appreciated knowing that the compound angle tightening thread on the handle that locks the angle once you set it is a reverse thread.
  
  Other than the poor shipping and mediocre instructions the saw itself works great, I am doing door and window casings and baseboard trim with it....more info

• My first saw! <3
  I've just recently delved into the hobby of carpentry, and this saw was on sale. At the price it was, I couldn't pass that up since I had been watching it for a while. I needed a fairly foolproof saw as my first one, because I figure an up and down motion makes it less likely I'll sever a limb!
  
  The instructions were a bit odd, when it comes to putting some of the accessory pieces together. After struggling through it for a while, I finally figured it all out and then let the saw sit in the dining room for about a month. It was a busy month, to say the least.
  
  So, this last weekend I was finally able to take my old, new toy to the shed and check it out. The little screw-clamp that it comes with is kind of small and sort of in the way. I didn't find it helpful at all and ended up using my own clamps to keep the wood in place. For what I was doing (cutting 2x4s for a workbench) it did great.
  
  For the price, you can't beat it. Especially if you catch it on sale--which it seems to go on quite often....more info

• Value but willl it last
  Does everything expected and at the level of an inexpensive saw. However, one of the mounting bracket legs broke in transit. Not a big deal as I wasn't planning on mounting it, but causes a concern about how long term durable it will be...more info

  My husband loves his new saw. He's in construction so needs it often. On the other hand the shipping dept. needs to be looked into. I'm suprised it made it here in great shape, the box was to flimsey for the product and was falling apart when it arrived....more info
• Rebate is a scam
  The saw is ok. It's actually pretty good for the price. Perfect for baseboard and crown molding.
  
  But I bought this when the Free Sander with purchase rebate was going on. I just spoke with Hitachi rebates, and they told me that it takes 16 weeks to send out the free sander! That's insane! They've had my paperwork for over a month now. They have a fancy website and phone system set up. If you fight with the automated phone guy, eventually there's a person paid to answer my call. But they can't send me a sander for 16 weeks. Nothing pisses me off like rebates that either don't pay, or take an insane amount of time to ship. I'm done with hitachi tools. The dewalt is a better saw anyway......more info
• Great Saw, Great Amazon Price!~
  I bought this same saw about a year ago at Lowes, I paid something like $150 for it. It's a great saw, really smooth and comfortable to use. Works great for cutting trim boards, but I've also used it as a chop saw to cut 2x6's, it doesn't bog down one bit when cutting larger stock. It's a little heavy, but to me that just means it's built better. It's also quiet compared to other miter saws I've used. This is definitely a great deal! I'm almost tempted to buy a second as a backup!...more info

  I replaced a 12 year old similar Delta saw with this product and I am very pleased. I don't know if it's the difference between an old saw and a new one or the difference in brands but Hitachi wins hands down. The Hitachi cuts smoothly, is quiet and has very little vibration. I'm waiting on the rebate item but I'm sure it will be nice too. I highly recommend this saw, especially for the price....more info

  I received this saw as a Christmas present in 2007. I've used it nearly every other weekend since, and the only complaint I have is with the manual. This was my first miter saw so I wanted to be sure that it was put together correctly, but the instructions were nearly incomprehensible. But, since I'm a guy and am used to not reading directions (j/k) I figured it out eventually.
  
  This saw is very powerful relative to other models in this price range. I had looked at the Dewalt saws, but didn't really think the quality of construction was the same since Black & Decker bought them out a few years back. I've used this to cut 4x4" treated posts and it slices through them like a hot knife through butter, with no motor lag at all. The sawdust catch-bag is a nice feature, but doesn't catch it all. I wasn't expecting it to, and having ANY of it get caught is a plus, and simply less clean up for me once the project is finished.
  
  After receiving this saw, I did some research and found out that all Hitachi power tools have a 5 year limited warrantee. I've blown through 3 drills - 1 Skil, 2 Black & Deckers (guess I didn't learn) - on my trip to the Hitachi brand, and will never buy anything but Hitachi tools from here on out. I would recommend this tool to anyone that is looking for a professional quality tool at a decent price....more info

  Needed a chop saw and as always, the 1st place I go to is Amazon. I had my mind set on a different saw, but when I was scrolling about, this Hatachi popped up @ a third of the price of any, plus free shipping, and a gob of accessories. It got to me in 4 days, a third of the expected $, and free shipping. Bonus!! I personally have great luck with Amazon. I don't think I'm alone. When ever I need anything, I look forward to researching and buying whatever it is on Amazon because saving money and having the best selection is as good as it gets! • What a Saw!!!!!
  I am extremely pleased with this saw..I bought it to do trim work for the new windows I put in my house.....to do this though I bought a Hitachi 72 tooth blade and what a smooth excellent cut it made! Very accurate. The dust catcher isn't the greatest...but I didn't expect it would be. I was missing the wrench when it arrived...but I called Hitachi and they had one to me in just a few days. Best yet, there was a rebate for a Hitachi sander too...free shipping..in all I got it all for under a $100....wow what a deal!
