Customer Reviews: - Great Gold Box buy
I bought this product as one of the Gold box specials for that day. I was in a shopping kind of mood and I needed a new bluetooth so it looked like a good idea. My tech-savvy fiance had his doubts about the quality until he used it and heard how clear it was! Its not the most comfortable fit but it gets the job done. It gets more comfortable if he adjust it a little. Volume is great, easy to connect. Comfort and a less than ideal battery life are my only complaints (I get about 2 hours of talk time.. usually over a week for me so its not big deal to charge it for 2 hours every now and then).
Overall I would recommend. ...more info - Not bad for the price.
I would recommend this to anyone needing a cheap bluetooth for playing their ps3. Yes, it has decent audio but won't be perfect for highway talking. I have been able to use it for both, but it is great for use with my ps3 and call of duty 4. ...more info - Great price, great headset
Recieved the Plantronics 220 headset in reasonable time and in good shape. After charging had no problems linking up with my Moto V3. Sound and volume were great and voice dial worked great. Got this on 'Today's Deals' for a great price....more info - Looks Good, Fits Great, Pairs With Phone Easily but Sounds Terrible
Just like the title states, there are lots of good things about it, but the one thing it does not do well is sound good during a phone call.
I have a Samsung SPH-M520 phone and all I experienced was crackly noises unless I put the phone within like a foot of the Plantronics 220. With the phone in my pocket it was difficult to hold a conversation. The person on the other end said they could hear static and the crackly noises. What did I expect for $20? I returned it the next day. Sure, there were some nice things about the unit, but if it doesn't have good sound and is not loud enough then it is completely useless. I will definitely read reviews before I buy my next Bluetooth Headset....more info - Quality For Less
I've purchased a good number of ear pieces for way more money; I think this bluetooth device is just as good, but for way less. It is comfortable to wear for my 12-13 hour days when I need one. I recommend this product very highly....more info - Great design...short range.
After getting this in the mail I charged it up as per the instructions. Paired it up with my phone and works great as long as I hold the phone within 1 (ONE) foot of the unit. Put the phone on my belt holster and it looses the signal. Hope Plantronics will honor their warranty. Thought it was a great design....good company name, maybe just one of the units made on a Monday. Will post if I get a new one from Plantronics....more info - Max volume just not loud enough
I bought this at Costco for $[...] and paired it with my iPhone. The setup was very easy, it has a nice fit and look and my conversations were clear with minimal static.
However, the only reason I wanted a bluetooth was for use while driving -- mostly to comply with CA's new law requiring a hands-free device. I had my windows rolled up, radio turned off, and the bluetooth volume cranked to the max -- but still could *barely* hear the person I was talking to.
I bought it for one purpose and it doesn't quite do the job. ...more info - Good Deal!
This was featured as one of those lightning deals. Good timing too, as I was looking for one. This is my first bluetooth head set and I am extremely satisfyed. Both the mic and speaker work with very good if not excelent clarity, and as it's one of the cheaper headsets, it makes for a great value. A couple of minor gripes. When turning the headset off, sometimes it seems as though it is not really off, i.e. after a day or so without using, I need to recharge. Also the volume controls are a little strange, in as much as a quick press seems to do nothing, while holding only lowers in notches. On the plus side, it is very light and comfortable. Very easy to wear for extended periods. ...more info - No trouble
This is a great bluetooth. I forget I have it on at times, even with my sunglasses. I use this while driving and the sound quality is very good. I use it with Virgin Mobile's Super Slice (UT StarCom)...more info - Uncomfortable, and an echo chamber
I just purchased this from Costco. At [...] I wasn't expecting the world, but at the very least I expected something that would fit in my ear.
The earpiece itself is completely unusable for me. If I do manage to twist it around enough to get it lodged in my ear, it so uncomfortable that it verges on painful.
The audio sounds like you're standing in a large empty warehouse. Hollow and echoey.
Not even worth the $20. I'm returning it on the same day I bought it....more info - Good for it's price
I purchased this through Verizon Wireless, thanks to several giftcards and a corporate discount. Now, I paid about $13 for this, but am rating this based on paying about $30, as most people will pay around $30.
Fit - It fits well enough. The "over the ear" clip isn't uncomfortable to me at all. Even with sunglasses on, though this may hinder other people. As for the earbud itself, it fits me well enough. It doesn't fit as snugly as an iPod earbud, but it seems to do it's job.
Look - I think it's a pretty good looking headset. Some of the headsets out there look pretty strange but work extremely well (jawbone). this particular one doesn't look cheap to others, nor does it handle cheaply, and seems well made.
Volume Control/Incoming sound - The toggle switch is a bit frustrating. I attempted to turn the volume up when talking to my mother, and hung up on her. The volume, in my opinion, should be able to go a little higher than it's capable of. Instead, I have to occassionally adjust the fit in my ear to make it seem louder.
Pairing - Pairing this with my new LG enV was a snap. You turn the headset on, set the phone to pairing mode, enter the access code, and you're all set.
Outgoing sound - The people I've spoken to say I sound just fine. While the "noise reduction" could be a little better on this phone, it does pretty well for the price you pay. If you want better noise reduction (using it while on a Subway for instance), you'd be better off paying the extra money for the Jawbone. If you're driving in a car with the windows up, this phone should do you well enough.
Overall - I must say, this is a fine bluetooth headset, if you're getting it for $35 or less. If you can't get it for less, I'd suggest a different headset. Noisier environments (construction yards, subways, busy city streets) won't serve this headset well. This works fine for everyday use in a normal environment (grocery store, car, office work)....more info - Best Bluetooth Headset I've ever owned - so far
I'm comparing this with a Motorola H300. Currently it is hooked to a Nokia from T-Mobile.
1. It is much lighter and fits much better than the H300. It seems more secure - the rubber earbud does not block the ear canal (on purpose, for driving - you need to be able to hear around you) but it provides a stabilizing point. The Motorola system is just to hang on the hook - one point of stability plus gravity. The Jabra has like a two point of stability deal, plus gravity.
2. The hook is easy to switch around so that it goes on the left side.
3. It fits well even though I have glasses on.
4. It supports all the basics: voice dialing (who knew this phone supported that - but it only works, approximately, when things are very quiet. Speaking a short sentence is amusing - it brings up a ton of things), answering hand free, hanging up, and switching a call to and from the earpiece.
5. It practices serial monogamy. It can pair with one device at a time, and the same single button that hangs up or answers the phone with a momentary press, and redials with a double tap, and goes into voice dial mode with a 2 second press when you start by being on hook, and switches the call to the handset with a 2 second press when you are off hook, and switches the call from the handset back to the headset with a three second press, and turns the earpiece off with a 4 second press, with an even longer press, goes into discovery mode (for about 120 seconds). When you read about how many things the single button can do with different length presses, you might begin to wonder, "will I accidentally turn off the headset trying to voice dial?"
Yes you will - unless you carefully listen for the beep and release the button when you hear the beep. So far, the disconnections have been amusing and have only happened when I was distracted.
6. People have said that "there are only four volume positions". What the earpiece has is a button that transmits "volume up" and "volume down" to the phone. It gets back a message that says "ok" or "end of limit". My phone has eight volume steps and when I adjust the volume, the adjustment steps appear on a slider on the faceplate. I also suspect that on the phone is where the volume adjustment is happening. So how many volume steps you have is based on what your phone can do, not on what the headset can do. (I'm a little hard of hearing, in a quiet room, I find that six of eight is about right, in a more noisy area, seven of eight).
7. Voice dialing is a joke. It brings up almost random numbers that only rarely even sound like what I said. I think that the failure is in the phone and that this is something that they added to make regulators happy, and that it is tested with five radically different sounding names. But that is not the headsets fault....more info - Most Annoying Feature
I purchased this unit with my new Nokia through AT&T. It functions as advertised and I would probably have rated it at least as average except for a most unforgivable feature. The unit has a single rocker switch that is used for turning the unit off, accepting or canceling a call, and redialing the last number called. So I have TOO MANY times actually redialed the last number when I thought I was turning it off. I am sure I could receive electroshock therapy to correctly learn the right method, but it is not intuitive. I use the phone for business so I cannot risk annoying a customer or vendor with this idiosyncrasy. ...more info - Lightweight and comfortable
Plantronics is very comparable, if not better, than Jabra headsets. This particular model (220) is very lightweight, comfortable, and discreet. So small and inconspicuous, I can wear it w/o anyone seeing it beneath my hair. I purchased this earpiece in order to have my hands free to take notes when working via phone with my co-workers, as well as talking while driving (although, I find that difficult w/ or w/o a headset). I bought this headset at a local electronics store and their warranty is, 30 days if I wish to return it. So far, I see no reason to return it. Their more expensive model supposedly muffles any extraneous noises, etc., but it is about $40 more than this model....more info - The best bluetooth at a great price
This bluetooth was recommended by a friend and was under 30.00, so I thought "What the heck? I'll give it a try." It fits firmly in the ear and the sound quality is wonderful. I have had several of these little devices and this by far out ranks those that I've had that cost 4 times the price of this one. It is very easy to use. Anyone who says they have trouble using it, obviously doesn't know how to push a button because that's all there is to it. I highly recommend this Bluetooth....more info - explorer 220
I had this bluetooth for about three weeks. And it does not work anymore I had the motorola headset which was great. Just wanted something new and up to date I will be taking this back two radio shack tomorrow. To get another plantronics another try. But if you buy make sure you keep your reciept. ...more info - I can hear you loud and clear.
I used to use a motorola piece of junk bluetooch headset. I could hear people fine but on the other end they always had a hard time hearing me. It also didn't fit my ear very well and always felt like it would fall off. Also it was hard to switch ears without some tedious processes.
I picked this one up on sale for $20 and it works great! Took me a second ot two to figure out how to use the volume button, but after turning it to the right volume it works great. Not to mention that it fits nice and snug, but doesn't hurt my ear. It also flips for simple and quick changing of ears if needed.
A++...more info
