  • awesome
I am trying to get the rest of mt family to buy one of these. When I First turned it on , There was a lot of stattic. So I plugged it into my computer, Run the update and installed the patches for my LG phones. Now it is amazingly easy to use. No body knows that you are using this thing when you talk to them....more info
  • Does exactly what I wanted!
I wanted to be able to drop my comcast digital voice service in favor of an additional cell phone on my verizon family plan ($45/mo vs $10/mo). However, I did not want to lose the use of my home telephone equipment, and be tied to a single cell phone for my entire house. This device allows me to use a cell phone as my home phone seamlessly, and all of my home phone equipment still works the same as before. I cannot say how well it works for multi-cell phone use, as that is not what I use it for....more info
  • Helps Use Cell Phones Like Land Lines - With Some Flaws
Grace Digital XLink Bluetooth Device comes in two versions: ITC-BTTN with which you can use a land line in addition to Bluetooth cell phone; and ITC-BT whcih pairs with only Bluetooth cell phones and has no provision for land line.

They both can make cell phones work just like land lines. Once your Bluetooth cell phone is paired to Xlink, your other phones work just like land line handsets and you can use your cell phones in multiple rooms with multiple cordless handsets. You can pair up to 3 cell phones with each Xlink unit; and one land line in addition on BTTN. Xlink finds a new use for old landline handsets.

Although it works, Xlink is not flawless. Once your cell phone is paired, you cannot receive the call on cell phone itself because you do not hear the audio, you have to pick up the call on other non-cell paired handset; but there are no audio problems with outgoing calls from cellular handset.

There is also a second or two delay in hearing sound on incoming and outgoing calls. Cell phone pairing does not take place automatically each time after the initial pairing. Caller ID does not show up on the cordless handsets although it shows whether the call is on cell phone or land line.

My original purpose in ordering this unit was to see if I can replace 3 business land lines with 3 cheaper cell phone lines but after using it for a month I am not sure if it works like good old reliable land lines. There are other new Bluetooth cordless units that pair with cell phones but as of November 2008, Xlink is the only device of its kind that lets you use your old land line handsets with cell phone....more info
  • Excellent product
I was more than tired of all the unsolicited charity calls I was getting on my analog line every day. I also noticed all of my personal and business calling was done via my cell phone. I began to research options on line.

I found several devices that would deliver what I was looking for; something that would synch with my cell and allow me to use the standard deskset or cordless phones I havd around my house. I decided to try the Xlink-cell bluetooth gateway.

As soon as it arrived I was able to set it up in less than 5 minutes. At that point I discovered that it won't work with an energized phone line. So I tested it with a stand-alone deskset and it worked perfectly. As soon as I got my analog service stopped and disconnected the phone line outside my house I was able to connect the gateway and had phone service throughout my house. My wife and I both have our cells synched with it and as soon as we get back in range the phones automatically connect without any effort on our part.

The one negative I have noticed is a slight delay in the service when I answer on a standard telephone. It is very slight but it is noticeable. Other than that I would strongly recommend this device to anyone that wants to stop their standard phone servioce. In most markets you will achieve an ROI on this in 6 months, or less....more info
  • Bluetooth Version
The reviews on this product are for the most part spot on. The only thing I could add is that be sure to be informed on what version of Bluetooth your cell phone has. My new Blackberry is bluetooth 2.0 and works wonderfully with this device, but my wife's Samsung is version 1.1 and she can answer the phone thru this device but she can't hear anyone speaking and cannot make outgoing calls. So my advice is to make sure you have at least a bluetooth version of 2.0 to get the full functioning of this device. ...more info
  • Great little device
(Added 1/5/09: Okay, it's been a month. No dropped calls, always picks up and I've made many outgoing calls - it works perfectly. I do have to keep my cellphone relatively close to the unit to make sure I get clear calls, but that's no big deal. I'm happy.)

I've only had this a week, but it has performed perfectly. Answers incoming calls, no dropped calls, and makes outgoing calls no problem. I do see caller ID (not just the "Xlink" that some people have commented on). I also don't have any problems when there's a missed call - I don't have to clear it on the phone as some people have said. Btw, I have an iPhone 3G for reference.

Regarding the issue of answering on the cell phone: If I answer the call on the cell phone, of course I won't hear the audio on the handset, because that's how bluetooth works. Same thing in my car, if I answer the cell phone instead of the integrated bluetooth in the car, I have to manually change the audio to the cell phone. (But why would I answer the cell phone and not use the cordless handset - that's the whole purpose for this device!)

I had tried the Panasonic KX-TH1212B (see my review of that device), and this blows it away. But it would have been nice to have the integrated DECT cordless phones instead of having to buy a regular set of DECT cordless phones.

    Pros:
works as expected, with no problems so far!

    Cons:
A little pricey, and you have to have separate phones
Blue lights a little bright, you don't want to put it in your bedroom!...more info
  • Get rid of your landline!
I decided to get rid of my land line and move that number to a cell phone to take advantage of the $9.95 for an extra line on my existing wireless contract. Installation took maybe 2 minutes. I got a new bluetooth phone and found an empty phone outlet in my house. Pairing the XLink with the phone was real easy. I've been running with this setup for 2 months now and I can't tell the difference between this and my old land line. I'm saving about $30/month thanks to this change, so I break even soon.

I have chosen to let my existing answering machine answer calls instead of relying on the Cell provider. If you want the same, make sure to associate your phone with device 1 on the XLink (1 dot). My first pairing used device 3, which caused a triple ring whenever the home line answered. This confused my answering machine and caused it to never pick up. I repaired on device 1 and the problem went away. Yes-- the XLink indicates which paired device is ringing the house by the number of rings on the home wiring.

One question I've been asked is "how do I wire this in?" With the way home phone wiring works, any outlet in your wired lines can act to drive the phone signal and ring phones. So, just pick any outlet and use a standard phone cord (RJ-11) to plug into the XLink and then into the wall. Your other phones just have to be on the same circuit (they are if everything works OK in your house today).

Great device, works like it should, and is very simple. I love it!...more info
  • Works MUCH better than the GE Cell Fusion Dect 6.0 product
I bought this device after switching my landline number to my cellphone. Since everyone in our house has a cellphone, the landline seemed redundant and an unnecessary expense. The Xlink works much better with our LG phones than the GE Cell Fusion device we originally tried.

With the Xlink BT I still have some problems with automated menu systems recognizing the numbers entered (e.g. press 1 for billing, 2 for customer service,...) and FAX machines don't seem to work with any of these devices. Also, occasionally the Xlink Bluetooth can't find my cell phone when I return home and put the phone on the counter. This happens infrequently and the Bluetooth range in general is great! I also wish I could get more differentiation in the ring sounds for each of the 3 phones connected to the Xlink although I haven't really played with this much.

I like that the Xlink device has upgradable firmware. The first thing I did after plugging the device in was to upgrade the firmware so I knew I was running the latest, greatest stuff....more info
  • Our Xlink BITTEN
Wanted to do with out landline in new home. The unit worked fine and as intended BUT because we so close to a mountain the cellphone reception is not very good SO it did not work out and we went to landline.

We will use it in our regular home up north because it will work fine there. It saves looking all over for the cell phone every time it rings....more info
  • Xlink-Freedom from the wire!
We talked in house about why we had a land line, we all have cell phones and it hardly get used except to order pizza. Well we finally did it with the Xlink and have no regrets. It connected easily to our Verizon Samsung SCH-u410 cellphone and has worked almost seamlessly for many months. We have the same in house cordless phones plugged into the Xlink and and all calls ring all the cordless phones in the house, just like a real phone call and caller ID works. There have been a couple of times where we lost the link but it was restored easily by unplugging and restarting. All and all I am very happy with the unit. We just added another line to our cell plan for $10 a month and dropped the $40+ per month land line. Get one and start saving $$....more info
  • Xlink-cell Bluetooth Gateway - Good but not perfect
The Xlink works pretty well. I have 2 phones connected to the Xlink and they both work.

I have had issues with my cell phone cycling between connected and disconnected to the Xlink. We this happens I have to turn blue tooth off and back on and it stays connected.

The quality of the sound is excellent as long as I have my cell phone is sitting close to the Xlink.

Overall I rate the Xlink very high. The days of missing calls because the cell phone is in another room are over....more info
  • Easy
Just plug it in, hold a button, and it links with your phone. Have had no issues. I use it with one phone all the time and with a second now and again. Just get close within about 10 feet and it will link. Sound quality is as good as your phone. Easy....more info
