• Looking for a replacement ... again.
  We got this to replace a standard wall phone which wouldn't ring with our cable phone system. The stainless steel look is nice, but just a "look" as it is plastic and feels very much like plastic. It is necessary to plug it in to a power outlet so if you don't have one in the area of the phone, you will have to have a silm black cord and a medium-sized transformer plug going from the phone to the outlet which really detracts from the appearance. The handset is lightweight, the sound is decent. We were able to fit the phone on the wall with the nonstandard setup. The directions are on a sheet that is about a half a mile long and a mile wide (ok, an exaggeration, but it is just one big sheet) and it not at all clear. Worst of all, it has a very jarring sound. I really hate the ring. So much so I am looking for a replacement ... again....more info
• What did you expect?
  Phone works fine, no interference. Looks nice despite the fact it's plastic. Lightweight. Small handset. Mounting issues presented small problem. Products like this should allow for standard mounting. Flashing light for messages....no audible message alert....may cause some delay in noticing messages waiting. Only one ringer sound. Sort of like a sound effect on the Jetsons. You get used to it tho. Better than a lot of downloaded cell phone ringtones I've heard around town. ...more info
• Can you say "trash"?
  The trash is exactly where ours has ended up! We purchased this, along with 2 accessory handsets (using our AMEX rewards points) for our Series 27909 phone and NEITHER of them will sync with the base. We tried several times and ended up contacting GE about it, who told us to unplug everything (including batteries from the phones) for 30 minutes and then try again. When that didn't work, we were basically told, "Oh well", and no offer of repair of replacement was made. We were told to return it to AMEX, but it was outside the 30-day window for AMEX returns, so we are stuck with this and 2 handsets that don't work and GE doesn't give a damn. This is worthless to us without the additional handsets....more info
• wall mountable but not on standard wall mount jack
  Like many people we were looking for a cordless phone with answering machine that we could mount in a attractive manner on the wall of our kitchen. This phone from GE is the only one I could find that can sit flush against the wall.
  
  For some reason this phone does not fit the standard wall phone jack on which you normally hang a wall mount phone (the kind with mounting studs that stick out from the wall). GE does not mention this in their literature. If you try to use the standard wall mount jack only one of the two screws heads will fit in the slots on the back of the phone and the phone will wiggle around. I did figure out a solution though. The spacing between the mounting slots on the phone is 3-5/16" (instead of the standard ~ 4") which the same as the spacing between the screws that are used to mount the phone jack itself to the box in the wall. So I replaced my existing phone jack with one that lacked mounting studs and had screws visible (no snap-on cover plate). I did not fully tighten the screws that attach the phone jack to the box in the wall, leaving just enough room for the phone to slide on. The result is that our phone now sits tight to the wall.
  
  Have not had the phone very long (1 week). The sound quality is good. We like that it displays the number of messages on the machine. Also, the ringer volume can be adjusted to be anywhere from very quiet to quite loud. One minor complaint -- if you push the pager button on the base unit (perhaps to locate a misplaced handset), all handsets will beep loudly until a button is pushed on any one of the handsets. This could be a problem if one of your handsets is located in an area where someone is sleeping....more info

• One major flaw.....NO answering machine silencer!
  In order to be of solid help to other buyers, let me skip to the chase here. I think this is an absolutely terrific phone in almost all regards. But there are two MAJOR flaws that are so significant that I simply have to issue a rating of only two stars.
  
  1. It is impossible to turn off your recorded voice (and the caller's voice) when a caller is leaving you a message. This means that you have no privacy or do-not-disturb options. If, for example, you are entertaining a guest in your home, and someone calls, and you wish not to be disturbed, forget it -- as you and your guest will hear the caller's voice as a message is left. This is such an obvious and dumb oversight by GE that it baffles the mind. Moreover, it took me an extra 45 minutes with the manual, as well as calls to the customer service line (rerouted four times, by the way, to other numbers) before I understood for sure that a silencing feature was not possible. The least GE could have done was stated so in the manual, as this is such a common feature on phones that we have come to expect it.
  
  2. The bases for the separate handsets (we have two) are way too lightweight. It is virtually impossible to pick up or hang up those handsets without also gripping the bases in order to keep them from toppling. One solution, I suppose is to weigh down the bases with strong tape, but then you run the risk of damaging your table surfaces.
  
  If these matters were solved by GE, even if it added $5-10 more to the cost, this phone would be truly outstanding and worthy of accolades throughout the globe....more info
• Yes, it fits in any standard wall-mount!
  Dect 6.0 looks good and sound is great. Range between wall mounted unit and hand-held is far greater (150+ ft.) than "5.8G" phones we have. And YES, it easily fits on any std wall mount. Lower mounting pin fits into the very bottom because the whole phone is smaller than older ones. Clock and caller I.D. are big and easy to see from 15-ft away. We are well satisfied....more info
• Do not recommend purchasing from this vendor
  This purchase gave me the worst experience with Amazon. We had our kitchen renovated and waited for this wall mountable phone... Despite numerous emails, vendor did not bother to reply on delivery status... After over a month, they advised item not available... I will not do business with this vendor again, and will not recommend them either......more info
• STylish Wall Phone
  Although not truly stainless on one will be able to tell. This is a very functional phone, good sound clarity and a very low profile when wall mounting which was one of our top criteria. It has survived a number of "drop" tests. The only downside is the instruction manual which is nearly worthless for programming. ...more info
• wall phone dilema
  I was not aware that I could have purchased this phone locally. If I had purchased it locally I probably would have returned it. It has a nice look to it and it does have a bright caller Id display, but the receiver sound is very "tinny" sounding. The buttons on the handset are flat and therefore you must press very hard on the keys. The sound from the built in answering machine works well it has a number of calls counter. The reason we purchased this phone was because our original wall phone quit working an we wanted a traditional look in the kitchen.I would only recommend this phone if you could overlook the poor receiver sound. ...more info
• NOT STAINLESS STEEL--NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!
  THIS PRODUCT IS NOT STAINLESS STEEL-IT ISN'T EVEN CLOSE. The phone is silver colored plastic just like the silver colored plastic phones that every other company sells. The only difference is that the other companies are forthright about it and call their phones "silver," and don't mislead customers by claiming they look anything even somewhat similar to stainless steel. I have a Southwestern Bell phone that actually has stainless steel plates on it, but I need to replace it because it is 2.4GHz and it gums up my wireless signal on my network. After looking for more than a year, I came across this phone and thought I had finally found exactly what I was looking for. What a horrible disappointment to open the box and see cheap silver colored plastic instead of stainless steel. I honestly cannot beleive that anybody at GE actually thinks this product looks even slightly like stainless steel, and because of that, I have to conclude that GE is simply misleading people hoping that most people won't take the time to return the phone when they discover it is not at all what it was billed as. I guess they think that including "finish" after the words "stainless steel" allows them to get away with this sham. Either way, if you are looking for stainless steel, or even something that might ever be mistaken for it, AVOID THIS PHONE. I would have given it 0 stars if the system would have allowed it, because the finish of this phone is not even 1/5 of the way to looking like actual stainless steel....more info

  We needed a phone in the kitchen and this looked to fit the bill. It's not Stainless Steel, but it is painted to look stainless steel. Yes, from a distance it's looks like stainless steel. It does looks great in my Stainless Steel Kitchen. The sound of my calls are decent....more info
• Awesome wall mounted cordless phone.
  There aren't a lot of choices out there for true wall mounted cordless phone. This one seems to do everything we need it to. I've seen some bad reviews on the phone, but it has done everything I've needed it to..Make calls, pick up calls and record missed calls. That's about all I expected it to do and it does. Any moron could mount it and make it function. It's chrome finish matches everything else in the kitchen, and it makes my wife happy...enough said!...more info
• Good Choice
  I knocked off one star because of the stiffness of the handset buttons. Otherwise the phone is easy to use, works fine, and is rich in functions. I'd readily recommend it. Three tips:
  - The phone accomodates both close and standard spacing wall mount lugs... although standard spacing is not obvious. The lower mounting plate lug fits below the phone's lower "keyhole" opening.
  - The security code setting instructions don't tell you to delete existing digits before entering new ones.
  - The handset Flash/Exit button seems to be the universal get-back-to-home button.

• Nice Phone
  I got this about 1 month ago. It's easy to program, sounds good and even looks good. I read in one review that said "Ithough it was real stainless steel" WHAT! It's a phone not a Grill. I didn't give it 5 stars only cause i haven't had it very long. Buy it and give a job to a fourth grader in China....more info

• Difficult to use
  I bought this phone because of it's looks and the fact that it doesn't protrude into the room. Its chrome cover really looks good on the kitchen wall and it fits flush which is hard to find, nowadays. But: it is hard to program; Instruction sheet is folded like a large map and hard to follow; wouldn't accept new Security Code for accessing Answering Machine remotely; dial is not lighted (can't dial in darkened room); every option takes 3 or 4 steps; Customer Service is in the Phillipines but they have a California area code. All form and no substance. I had it one day and returned it. This is my first and last GE electronic product. ...more info

• Good phone
  This is a very good phone. It can only do one thing at a time, it CAN"T MULTI TASK... If someone is on the phone you can not check caller ID or look at your phone book from another hand set. also you can't listen to the answering machine while on the phone. • Nice, sleek-looking answering machine
  I got this a few days ago to replace an old (analogue tape based) answering machine, and am happy with it. It looks nice and seems to work well. Setup was relatively easy (be aware that you are supposed to charge the handset for 14 hours before using it, and you can't really set up the machine without it). Incoming and outgoing sound quality is fine, remote operation of the answering machine works without a problem (so far), and overall I'm pleased with it. I especially like the way it mounts on the wall; unlike some reviewers, I had no problems once I figured out that you have to keep the cords out of the way, and I put mine on a standard wall mount (granted, one that I painted black to match the base of the answering machine). The ring is a little odd--more like a cellphone ring--but nicer than my old phone. Yes, it is plastic and not stainless steel, as other reviewers have complained about, but come on people: it looks fine (and I can't imagine the potential interference a *real* stainless steel phone might have). It looks nice enough that I went to the trouble to paint my wall mount to match, after all. My only complaints are that I can't change the security code for remote access for some reason (although this could just be me--I'll keep trying) and also that there is no battery backup; my understanding is that if you lose power, you lose any messages on the machine? For the price, though, it's a great phone-with-answering machine....more info
