Customer Reviews:

  • Connecting to Computer Took Effort, but Eventually Worked
I bought these primarily for use with my computer. I have a Dell laptop running Vista that I purchased in Summer '08. I had read about compatibility issues, but figured it was worth a shot at the price. I was able to connect to the computer fairly easily (the only other BT device I had connected to the computer before was a wii-mote), but had some issues figuring out how to get sounds from the headphones instead of the speakers. This site http://www.djkaty.com/vista/bluetootha2dp was helpful in sorting out that problem, though some of the BT stack issues she mentions no longer seem to be a problem as I didn't have to download Widcomm and was able to just get by with my default. Sound is clear, controls on the headphones work great (volume, up track, down track). As an added bonus, it connected quite easily to my cell phone, so I can have a massive looking hands free set as well....more info
  • it works!!
You dont expect much from a $38 bluetooth stereo headset. This headset lives upto that expectation. Quality of sound and overall build is average at best. It paired well with my laptop and Nokia E71 Unlocked Cell Phone (remembers pairing with both devices at the same time). Call quality is great while making/receiving calls - it is loud and clear (love it).

There is a play/pause button on one of the earcups for controlling bluetooth audio playback, and it works well with my E71(love it). There is a wire that runs through the arch over your head - it is loose and is visible often(hate it). It comes with a hardcase and a wire if you want to connect it to a 3.5mm jack. It charges over USB, but a AC-power adapter is included in the package.

Should you buy it? May be. If you are looking this to get rid of wires, yes, you should. If you are looking for great bluetooth stereo sound - no, this is not the one (and be prepared to spend 2x-3x money as well).

  • Really good, not life changing.
. First, these phones kick a**. They sound phenomenal, great mids and highs with adequate bass and little distortion at loud volumes. Just loud enough not to hurt, though sometimes you wish there was a little more. Long battery life and relatively easy bluetooth pairing, though there was an issue when one device takes control and another then cannot find the headset to reclaim transmission. So, not so much on the switching. Microphone is functional, if distant.
. Design wise, could have been better. While comfortable, the strong brace begins to pinch the head after a while, right in the temples too. A quick adjusment usually abates the pressure. Not uniformly rigid, they do rattle and flop when active and the swivel points always worry me that they're going to break when I'm not wearing the set. Solitary buttons on either ear work, sorta. Having the same button handling on/off, pairing, answer/reject, and redial functions, knowing the exact number of seconds to depress the interface can get tricky. That said, the grip rings that handle song selection and volume are simply wonderful; very tactile, with reliably solid actuation. Although there is no seeking within the song on this model, I feel that the grip rings are still the highlight feature.
. Overall, very impressed for my first foray into bluetooth connectivity, the few qualms do not ruin the experience and I feel the value online is unsurpassed. Happy shopping!...more info
  • Very pleased
These headphones are amazing! The bluetooth works great and is easy to sync up. 17 hours of use before having to re-charge means you can focus on using them instead of wondering if they are going to die in the middle of a song. They cut out for half a second when I had my phone in my right pocket, but that was alleviated by putting my phone in my left pocket. This only happened when I turned my head while checking for cars when running. Music quality is outstanding and can't be matched by ear buds. They are extremely comfortable and never get annoying while wearing. I would recommend these to anyone who wants to enjoy their music while not having to worry about cords while running or working out. Very pleased!...more info
  • S805 Headphones with Sony Bluetooth transmitter
Headphones sound great. I'm using them with my home entertainment system so I can listen to videos and movies while everyone else is in bed. I'm transmitting with Sony TMR-BT10A connected to the headphone jack of my Nachamichi receiver. There is a slight delay in the sound to peoples lips moving which is a Bluetooth problem apparently. Range is about 20 feet. When sitting on the couch where I usually am they are amazing. Very comfortable too. ...more info
  • Heavy, heavy, heavy
I bought these and the Sony DR-BT22 for comparison. Sony wins outright. The motorola headphones are heavy (you obviously figured out that this was my biggest issue with this set ;-) ). BT22 is much lighter and have better controls, but need to be used with care because of multiple plastic parts. If you are the kind of person to sit on your headphones accidentaly, get the motorola, if not - go with Sony or another set.

The sound quality was equally good on both sets....more info
  • Awesome....
These are some of the best headphones that I've ever used!!! Only thing wrong is that they don't go loud enough for me!!!...more info
  • A comfortable, high-quality headset
This headphone set lived up to its reviews of comfort and high audio quality. Sadly, I bought it to use as a wireless headset for use with my iMac computer, which turned out to be unsuitable for reasons that are not the headset's fault. Just one problem worth noting here is that if you are using Bluetooth audio to listen while watching a video stream, there is a very noticeable delay in the audio, one or two seconds, which annoyingly desyncs the sound and picture. So it wouldn't be good for use watching a TV with a BT adapter, either. But it will work fine in conjunction with a BT-enabled phone and/or a BT-enabled audio system. And the sound quality is great....more info
  • Awesome, yet lacking
    Pros:
    1) Sound is awesome. Gotta say, a hell lot better than other wireless headphones
    2) Play/Pause + Volume + Track buttons (or wheels) are located on the earcups. VERY convenient. (For the people who didn't know, the earcups have spring-based wheels that adjust volume and skip tracks)
    3) Includes a wire, so the headphones are able to be used on a 3.5mm jack
    4) Sits pretty comfortably on head
    5) If wireless, sound can be LOUD.
    6) Good mic
    7) Clear smooth sound
    8) No static, or glitchy noise
    9) Good wireless range

    Cons:
1)Fabric on the "arc" of the headphones ITCH
----> I can't have it hang around my neck because it irritates my skin. Horrible fabric
    2) The left earcup's button, with the phono logo, clacks every step you take. Can be annoying.
    3) You can't bend over or anything of that sort with these on. They'll slip out
    4) Plastic feels cheap
    5) a2dp required
    6) The included wire could be longer
    7) In wireless mode, the buttons aren't VERY responsive. (Takes like 1~3 secs for them to react, if not, they just don't)

I've had these for 4 months now. Bought em over the summer.
I bought it thinking that my Samsung a970 had a2dp and could support this phone. Well, guess I was wrong. Buyers beware: Check if your phone has a2dp or not!
So, I've been wiring it with my phone (must buy a 3.5mm to 2.5mm convertor separately), because I use my phone as my mp3. I hate iPods.
Sounds good, but the sound won't go as loud as I want it to. Maybe it's my phone. But, I've connected it with my sister's juke, and WOW. The volume is BANGIN. These headphones could be used as speakers. It's VERY clear, and the connectivity is very long.
I can hear it from my 2nd floor house, when the phone's in the basement.

I've done a lot of testing calling with these, and they are pretty clear and audible. Unlike other headphones, you hear the phone on both earcups, which is good.

I gotta say though, I bought these 51% cuz of fashion. 49% was for the quality of the headphones. Gotta say I'm GREATLY disappointed. The fabric is SO itchy. I can't have it around my neck to show it off. So when I'm sitting down, I just put it on my thighs.

Btw, I'm a junior in high school, and I walk to school listening to these. The button on one ear CLACKS every step.
Click clack click clack <-see how annoying that is?

But overall, sound's what matters right?
Sound's AWESOME. The wirelessness is so convinient. Won't have to untangle wires no more! :]

    Obama for Pres '08

Note: Headphone looks a hell lot more bangin than shown in pictures. I swear....more info
  • Risky Purchase
I used the product about 8 times and report the following. The bass is missing period and lots more distortion than is acceptable. More importantly, the right controls play/pause and skip/repeat stopped working before ten uses.

Its a cool concept but very cheaply done. Motorola is not known for its audio quality and this proves it. I would rate it average if it didn't break on me but that is not the case. If you look at other sites like Amazon check the reviews there and you will see that some like it but others don't do to poor quality with wires and connection...more info
  • Works on a Mac, just not very well.
Product arrived without retail packaging, carrying case, 3.5mm jack adapter, manual, warranty info or UPC code. Pretty lame.

Pros: easy to pair, great cutting the cord, look nice, fit well, battery life, song skipping & volume control.
Cons: highs crack up, static constantly present, sync is completely off when viewing videos.

Since I bought these for watching video, this is a deal-breaker.

  • Forth Time's A Charm
Finally, after 4 tries, I have found a set of bluetooth wireless headphones that I can actually live with.

Are they perfect - NO! I'll get into the pros and cons below, but first I've got to say that when I started my quest to purchase a decent sounding, less than a 100 lbs, and less than a fortune set of wireless headphone, I did not expect it to be this difficult.

For my music source I purchased the Verizon ENV2, and added an 8 GB chip.

I first ordered the JBL 610 ($125). While they paired up perfectly, they sounded much too tinny and felt cheap. Return # 1.

Next I ordered the top-of-the line Sony DRBT50 ($165). These were light weight, felt great, and when I got stereo, they sounded wonderful. Unfortunately, they would not stay in stereo mode, kept reverting back to mono. Also, the controls were badly placed and I kept hitting the controls when I put them on. Return # 2.

Next came the Jabra BT8030 ($137). They paired easily and sounded very nice (they have chip enhanced bass). Also - they turn into stand-alone speakers and they really sound great in that mode. The sound level actually doubles. Unfortunately, they weighted about a ton and I felt really stupid when I walked around the mall with them on. Oh yea, the ad claimed 32 hours of use between charges, but once I got them the specs said 7-8 hours. Big difference. I thought about keeping them for the stand-alone stereo - but - back they went. Return # 3.

That's when I gave up and bought a pair of Bose wired headphone (the cheap $150 pair). They sounded great and lightweight - but once I got them on the plane I remembered why I wanted wireless phones. I kept catching the cable on the seat and I had to pull the phone out to turn it on an off. So after a couple of weeks of this, I decided to try one more time. I kept the Bose for the office.

I purchased the Motorola S805, basically out of sheer desperation. They were only $88 at Amazon (I love Amazon!), and free shipping, so I gave them a try. Surprisingly, they paired easily and sounded really good. They were not especially light weight, but fit fine on my head and were not all that heavy (8 oz). No glitches the first 3 days, then all at once I went to turn them off, and they went in pairing mode and the only way to get them out was to plug in the charger. A couple of more days went by and one morning they would not turn on (had plenty of charge). So I decided they were defective, and I sent them back and got a replacement pair. After about 3 days with the replacement set, once again they went into pairing mode, and then later would not turn on. Hum, if it happened the same way twice, then it probably was not a defect but something I was doing wrong. So I experimented with them for a few days and figured it out. Here goes: If you follow the instructions when turning them off and wait until after all 3 flashing lights before releasing the on/off button, they will go into pairing mode. If you release the button as soon as the first flash happens, they turn off. A quirk, but, given my history and desperation, not all that hard to live with. Next, why would they not turn on sometimes? I found this one by accident. I went to turn off the headphones, but forgot to first press the music play/stop button, just turned off the phones. That did it, they would not turn back on until I plugged in the charger and "reset" them. Okay, for most people that would be enough to "send them back" but I really want wireless headphones so I am keeping them.

    A few other observations:
    (1) I tested the charge time and so far they've gone 16 hours on a single charge, and they were still working. They are rated at 17 hours. Charge takes almost exactly 3 hours.
    (2) A big pro is the case, hard shell and very nice. Room to store the charger and supplied wired cable.
    (3) They transition seemlessly from stereo headphones to hands-free phone headset. When you hear the ring tone, just press the Phone button and you are talking. Clear as a bell. Not sure how my voice is coming through, but have not received any complaints so I assume it is clear as well. When you are finished with your call, press the phone button again, and you are back to music in a couple of seconds. The music is paused so you don't miss a note.
    (4) The ad says they reduce noise and echo, but I did not find either of these to be true. Background noise is not noticably reduced, and there is a noticable echo when walking in the mall. Does not really bother me, but you should be aware of this. Haven't tried them on the plane yet.
    (5) Controls: I like the placement of the controls. Took me only a couiple of days be become an expert at lowering or raising the music volume (a wheel), skipping or repeating a song (a different wheel), pausing (quick push of a button), or answering the phone (quick push of a differnt button).

Okay, that's about it. I will keep them and I do recommend them if you don't mind dealing with a quirk or two. Besides, $88 (now $79 I see) isn't all that much money to be the first on your block to own some new high-tech gadget.

  • very comfy
Very happy with the product for use as headphones to my computer. i do not/have not tried these with my phone as i really don't do hands-free. Very comfortable for long use and battery life is super long. i can use these for several hours over several days and they still have power in them before i choose to charge them. You cant charge and wear at the same time, however, but due to the long life, i haven't run into that as a problem. Definitely recommend, probably buy another pair for gf if still in stock....more info
  • They just stopped working...
These were OK when i got them, minor complaint as I have big ears that flare out from my head, and they tended to squish then and as I'm travelling from chicago to Phoenix and back twice a week, they were uncomfortable after the first couple of hours...

But the real problem appeared just a copuple of months after I started using them. The headsets would not keep a charge. I would plug them in to charge overnite prior to travel, and the blue lights would light up that it was charging. The next day, on hte plane, I'd thake them out and press the power button and they were dead.

Because this would happen irregularly, I've stopped using them and carrying them as the are bulky. Going to find a different headset to use......more info
  • Lil big but fantastic
I recently got into gaming so went out and purchased a 17" gaming laptop and needed a headset that would not tie me to the laptop. The S805 Audio quality and controls are excellent. Pairing with my laptop became a snap just after updating the bluetooth drivers, it pairs a lot quicker and easier with my phone. It's a bit on the big side but then it is a DJ Headset, but it's also very comfortable. Also comes with a sturdy and stylish case. It gets my thumbs up... good product...more info
  • Extreamly good headphones

  • Great sound and feel
Have had for one week. They sound great with full bass and clear high's. This paired with a D200 dongle works out with no compatability issues, although I havent run the dongle on Vista yet. Good bang for your buck. Newer models will only improve....more info
  • Not happy
I received my headset in plastic bubble wrap without the listed items from the product features section. I use the headset during my commute. I really need a case for it. The headphones are very bulky and heavy. Another reason to have a case for them. I contacted Amazon and was assured that I would receive another shipment of the correct items. They sent the same exact thing! This morning I see that I missed the review that says **ALL PARTS LISTED ARE NOT INCLUDED** (Darn it)I am very disappointed with this whole experience and both are now going back. I will keep researching. ...more info
  • Confusion and Suggestion
This Wireless Blue Tooth Headset has awesome sound and it is relatively easy to you. I worked for it if they had cloth type covering instead of the fake leather or less sweating, but it isn't that bad (summer is coming though). They should also have changeable ear piece covers, see that fake leather covering eventually cracking. And if they were cloth and changeable then you could wash them.

Where is the confusion? Well it is with pairing. You hold in the phone button for pairing either the phone or the music source causing confusion in the device or at least in me.
I would suggest that the company make the phone button for the phone pairing and the music button for the music source pairing.
I install my phone like it says and then I try the computer for music I hear music, but I can't control windows media player to review said they were able to do, but also then the phone un-paired. And back and forth.
I am wondering is because I have a music phone that the headset is thinking well you have music and phone. Not sure.
I plan on keeping them though. I still have to call customer support. Maybe it is something I have set wrong in my computer. Or I am Doing something wrong....more info
  • Great sound but I wish the construct was designed better...
I wanted to be able to watch tv late at night without having to disturb others in the house to I got these last week to pair with my motorola DC800 stereo adapter (which I first tried to pair with my laptop to stream music from my onkyo stereo to laptop as streaming from laptop to onkyo using dc800 already works flawlessly but I wanted to see if I could get away with not having to buy bluetooth headphone and instead stream sound to my laptop speakers and then use normal headphones on laptop but alas, it doesn't work that way).

The pairing was smooth between both devices (this headphone and dc800) - just follow the instructions for both and it's easy. The sound quality is amazingly good. I had connected it with my dish network receiver and the sound was crisp and clear. This is consistent with the great sound quality I get with my laptop playing music and streaming to motorola dc800 stereo adapter attached to my onkyo. I also never got any signal loss or interruption even going to other room or kitchen with all walls around. No distortion of sound at all.

Now comes the failing part due to which I have to return this product and instead go with the motola HT820 (which I hope offers the same quality of sound as this one without the construct flaws) - After having these headphone over my head for 1/2 hour my ears were HOT! I had to take these off the let my ears "breath"! Secondly, these are too tight on the ears. My ears hurt after wearing for 1/2 hour use. It was uncomfortable wearing these so the whole point of watching tv for entertainment was lost 'cause I was more distracted by the strangling heat & pinching discomfort caused by these on the ears than enjoying the movie. And I don't have a big head. As a matter of fact probably a little smaller than the average. May be I'm not used to wearing DJ style headphones and may be these will grow more "loose" on the ears..I don't know 'cause I'm not going to wait that long. I wish they had made these a little less tight and perhaps with some ventilation without losing sound....more info
  • Perfect for Late Night Listening
These work great for watching tv late at night when the Family is asleep. Plus you can get up and get a drink and not miss anything. You can transfer them to your computer and listen to music while doing something else. The range is good with not much static. They are worth every penny for the price I paid. I am considering the Bose wireless headphones when I can afford them....more info
  • All parts listed are not included
The headset works great- it's almost worth the money just for the wireless sound. The phone sound is great when you're wearing them, but can be a little less clear than normal for the person on the other end (still pretty good though). The only problem is that Amazon did not send the carry case or the stereo adapter. I called and they sent me another set missing the exact same pieces. Now they are saying that it's a warehouse issue and they'll discount the headset, which we'll end up doing just to keep the headset, but it's still very frustrating because as of now, I can use them with my itunes library off my computer, but not with my ipod. ...more info
  • So So
Well DJ Headphones they are NOT..! The phone sounds good and the people I talk with have no problem hearing me even with back ground noise. BUT.. the music side of the headphones really sucks. You can't crank it up and even what little bit they do crank the bass crackles, But the power last forever.

I drive for hours and never have to recharge them, well not for @least (seems like) 30 hours or so. Non stop for 10 hours or more.

They are worth about $30 or less for the limitations....more info
  • Not as good as I had hoped
    Pro:
-Adjustable headset, many/most in this price range aren't
-Wireless (of course) however offers a corded option that connects to non-bluetooth technology (cable included)
-DJ style, i.e. covers the ears for a better listening experience (note: not earphones suited for a Disc Jockey)
    -Pairing process worked pretty well
-Buttons mounted on the earpieces to control various functions somewhat awkward for me... it's like they're in the wrong places or too close together or perhaps its that buttons are used for too many shared functions

    Con:
-Horrific static interference on every device in every location that I tried to use this with
-Bluetooth is not compatible with all bluetooth, be careful what type of bluetooth that your other devices use
-For me, uncomfortable. The top bar that connects the earpieces is not padded
-Bulkier feel than I was hoping for
-Not compatible with iPhone (but works with the iMac)

Bottom line: for me not a good experience. I will keep on looking and may have to spend more $$$ to get a wireless experience that I am looking for (so far no luck). Suggestion: find the online manual and read it first as another way to research any electronic device to help you select the unit that's right for you....more info
  • Good Sound Difficult to Operate
    Pros:
    * Nice sound
    * Good feel on the head
    * Rotating cups are nice for mixing (during practice, not live, see below)
    * Headset comes with a really nice carrying case

    Cons:
    * They are extremely difficult to pair with any device. Every time I use them I have to spend five to ten minutes just trying to get the headphones into pairing mode and to actually pair with the host device. Motorola used the horrible "one button does it all" interface for operating power and pairing, even though there are two buttons on the headset.
    * The other button on the other side of the headset is useless because it's proprietary. It's supposed to pause/play music but it doesn't work with any device I've ever paired the headphones with.
    * The little rubber flap that covers the USB and audio input plugs is always falling out and hanging lopsided.
    * The headphones say on the package and in adverts that you can connect a headphone cable to another device to listen instead of using Bluetooth, but they don't tell you that the cable has to be Motorola's "special" headphone cable, which you have to order from Motorola. You can't just go to the store and buy a iPod headphone cable to use with the headphones like you can with most other devices.
*The fabric on the inside of the headband is nice for keeping your head from sweating but it causes carpet burns on the back of your neck if you wear the headphones around your neck.
*Not recommended for DJs (trust me, I am one) because you can never be sure how long the battery is going to last, as there's no battery meter. You really don't want your headphones to quit on you in the middle of a live show.
    * When the batteries get low there's a series of three beeps then an ear-bursting *POP* noise. I wrote to Motorola to complain and ask if the issue could be fixed, but they responded by sending me another set of the same headphones which had the same problem. The only workaround is to quickly jerk the headphones off of your head when you hear the three beeps to avoid hurting your ears with the loud pop noise.
    * There's a really bright LED light that fades on and off while the headphones are receiving audio that you can't disable, on each side of the headphones. It's kind of neat for about the first five minutes then it gets annoying.
    * The minimum volume is still sometimes too loud.
    * Default volume at power on is always too loud....more info

  • Great sound, comfy fit, bad connection
I've been searching for a bluetooth over-the-head headphones for quite some time. My previous headphones i got from verizon - LG HBS200. The LG HBS200 is terrible! Do not get it. its extremely fragile. Back to the motorola s805.

    PROS:
    -Good sound quality
    -Comfortable and adjustable
    -Convenient case
    -Simple controls
-Pairs easy with most devices (check if compatible)
-Phone calls are clear and loud
    -Great concept and idea
-Will be a good earwarmer in the winter =]
they should put the fuzzy earwarmer things as a case on the s805 =]

    CONS:
-Bad bluetooth connection with music on my Glyde
-Short adapter cord (pretty sure you can find a longer one anywhere)

    Conclusion:
Overall, the headphones are good. Theyre comfy, sexy, and very easy to use. The noise cancelling feature should be called noise reducing. I've read other reviews and the product just has big cups to reduce outside noise. It does not have the actual "noise-cancelling" feature that is built into other headphones. Nonetheless, they work for me. However, the Bluetooth connection in terms of music is pretty bad. I am guessing that the s805 is very succeptive to outside interference and does not have a very strong Bluetooth receiver. I can't walk very far without getting audio loss or gaps in sound. Its gotta be at an angle or positioned in some weird way to get a signal. However, when walking around the house or any place where there is not a lot of interference, the signal is good.

I use these to walk to school, on the bus, walk home from school, walking around the house, and even online gaming. I just got a dongle and im going to pair them up so i can play online games and listen to music. =]
They work for me but if you want a pair of Bluetooth headphones to walk around anywhere...these are probably not for you. The connection will make you want to return them.

    Bottom line: 4 stars

  • I love these! Best Purcahse is years.
Perfect example of a great purchase! Great price, Great Quality. I was very sceptical about making the purchase because the price was so reasonable. I was thinking that they would have to be crap, but no need to worry.

The sound is great, they work with my Tmobile Wing Phone perfectly. The added unexpected feature is that they interupt music play and actually announce my Outlook meeting reminders with location and time information. That's pretty cool! Mostly I listen to music while walking my dog and make/accept calls on my phone with them. I am ordering a bluetooth adapter for my laptop today so that I can use them with my laptop as well. You might expect them to be heavy from the pictures but they are vey lightweight. No complaints there either.

I just love them. ...more info
  • Cool Looking, terrible quality
These headphones look like they should be so much better but they are terrible, the sound quality is shaky and everyone around you can hear your headphones almost as good as you can....more info
  • Awesome sound, comfortable, CHEAP!
These are great headphones for the price. I'm 6' tall and these fit comfortably over my head and ears. They are snug, but I wear them for hours on end every day and do not experience any discomfort.

The sound quality is excellent. The highs and lows more than meet my expectations (though I'm not an audiophile). I primarily use these to connect to my Dell laptop at work which has a built-in bluetooth card.

I've also used them with my AT&T TILT cell phone and the extra headphone functions for pausing and changing tracks works flawlessly. The phone funcitons work well and I've been told my voice is coming through audibly.

If you're new to bluetooth or are not much of a techy, you might find these a little challenging. Bluetooth itself is not flawless. You will find yourself re-pairing or at least manually connecting (via the bluetooth maintenance software on your computer/phone) this device (and likely any other bluetooth device) often if you are using with more than one device....more info
