Customer Reviews:

  • Good enough for the Desert!
I have three kids, ages 6-12 and live in the Phoenix, AZ metro area. I purchased these over a year ago for the kids to take to school and soccer. They are awesome! When filled with ice (normal cubes go in easily!) and a tiny bit of water, the resulting water 4 hours later will still be cool, even in our 110F+ summers. They are easy for the kids to fill, don't sweat, and have lasted a long time. They can go right into the dishwasher (lid on top shelf) and don't warp at all. They don't look all that sophisticated, but they work like a charm and have held up well under daily use....more info
  • Good bottle!
Inexpensive, lightweight, insulated, and it doesn't leak. Just about everything you could ask for in a basic bicycle water bottle....more info
  • Stiff Sides Hard to Squeeze & Low Capacity--Better Alternative
My personal preference for a water bottle is that it should be fairly easy to squeeze to get the water out. I never knew about this preference until I got my Polar Insulated Water Bottle, which, by comparison with all my other bottles requires an inordinate squeeze effort. Now, I don't even bother to use the Polar bottle for most rides. Instead, I fill a large regular bottle 3/4 full of water, put it in the freezer on a tilt to freeze*, and before a hot-day ride I top off with water and take off with it and another water bottle to which I add a number of ice cubes consistent with my need for the first part of my ride.

Be sure to be aware that the capacity of the Polar bottle is much lower than that for similar external-sized bottles, because of the internal bag, a price one has to pay for the insulating ability.

*Water expands when it freezes, causing the bottom of the bottle to bulge unless there is a large surface area for ice to expand into, which is provided by tilting the bottle. ...more info
  • nice bottle to have
The Polar bottle is great to freeze. It also keeps the liquids cold longer than regular bottles due to the nice colorful lining. A big plus to this water bottle is that the nozzles can be removed for deep cleaning unlike most other bottles....more info
  • Nice cold bottle...
Love this polar insulated water bottle. Even though it is tough to squeeze at first, it gets easier w/ time. The carrying loop is a great touch as well. Really keeps things cool for a longer period of time than a standard plastic water bottle. I wanted to try this before I bought more... I definitely would recommend. ...more info
  • Made in the USA!!!
I was truly surprised and overjoyed when I got these bottles in the mail and found out they were made in the USA. I can't wait to get my whole family one of these!...more info
  • Great bottle excellent customer service!
I love these Polar insulated bottles. I have 5 of them and they work really well. I have one of the older bottles from 2004 that doesn't have the black plastic carry strap and 4 newer bottles. The 24 oz. bottles fit bike cages well and fit on my 15" frame MTB down tube. I use the smaller 20 oz. on my upright tube and it fits decently there. My husband's 19" frame MTB fits 24 oz. bottle on both down and upright tubes just fine.

BPA free bottles and they can take a beating. Freezing is fine and dropping them doesn't dent or shatter them. There a few scratches, but nothing bad after 4 years, almost like new. The bottles don't sweat much if at all either, except from the tops since they're not double insulated. Water stays cool after 2-3 hours of biking in the sun. It works better than the 20 oz. CamelBak insulated Podium bottle (keeps water cooler). I like the convenience of using my teeth to open the bottle instead of the locking top of the Camelbak. Water does come out faster from the Camelbak Podium bottle, but it's not that big a deal for me. I like the wide mouth tops that make adding ice or cleaning with a brush easy.

Polar customer service is beyond excellent. My old Polar bottle began to leak near the top valve and Polar is sending me a replacement top for free. They are also sending me 2 black plastic carry straps too since 2 of my newer bottles didn't come with them. That's really awesome of them. Also there's a real person answering the phones, no recordings for me. Wow!

Update: Can I rate higher than 5 stars? I got my replacement top and straps in 3 days (over the weekend!) with a cool bonus. Thanks Eric. I value customer service almost as much as the product, and with an excellent product and excellent service you have my business....more info
  • Not cold
I was looking for an insulated water bottle. This is somewhat insulated, but I put ice in it with some water, and it didn't stay cold more than a couple hours at the most. If I put in too much ice, then it is a little too slow melting. I like the looks and colors, but it didn't serve the purpose for which I purchased it. ...more info
  • Great water bottle!
This is a great water bottle. Some of the other reviewers did a great job, I will just add that the loose foil layer is inside between the two plastic layers. This further limits air movement inside the insulated area, which helps keep your drink cool. From some of the pictures, it almost looks like the outside of the bottle has some sort of loose, foil-plastic material on it, and it looks like maybe it wouldn't hold up, but, as I said, it isn't that way, and it seems as if the bottles should last us a long time. ...more info
  • The best liquid container I've found so far
I read a review of portable liquid containers on Slate.com a couple of years ago when I decided to abandon my nalgene containers. Based on that review, and some other reading, I purchased 4 different bottles to do my own testing. I usually use two daily, bringing them to work, one for water and one for iced tea or another liquid. The Slate review did not go over how easily ice cubes would go into the containers. This one and my old nalgene containers were the only ones with a wide mouth opening that would allow any size ice cube and could be used at an ice dispenser (which I use at work) without scattering ice all over. It also "sweated" the least (almost never) of the four and less than the nalgene. I can put it inside a tote or my purse and it doesn't get everything wet. I've given them as small gifts to others. One friend is a triathelete and now uses this bottle exclusively.

I have only two minor complaints about the bottles, but not enough to rate it a four. You have to figure out how to adjust the stem to be able to drink without squeezing the bottle and the removable loop handle is a bit flimsy (although none of mine have ever broken) and is easy to loose in the dishwasher. I love these bottles and they are the only ones I use now....more info
  • Great product....would use no other
This water bottle is great! I own four of these and it is the only water bottle I will use. I use them on my bikes, in the car and around the house and office. For hot day rides I freeze one 3/4 full and top off with cold water....will still have cool to cold water three hours later....more info
  • Keeps water icy cold but leaks
Love this bottle as it can be be put into the freezer and doesn't warp and gets misshapen like the metal bottles. And the water is icy cold for hours. But be careful about putting it into your tote bag. The cap loosens and the water drips out of the bottle. This has happened twice. I had no idea the second time that the water was dripping onto the floor of the bank I was at. I saw the bottle leaking in my tote bag and my checkbook was soaked. I was embarrassed. It's a good thing my suede bag is cleanable.

Just beware that may be a problem for you because it's just a plastic cap without a rubber seal, so it is not watertight.

  • Cheap
I bought these and was astounded at their quality. They are just normal plastic water bottles that you can buy at Walmart for $0.75. They did not leak, just did not impress me. I am still on the hunt for a good insulated water bottle...wish me luck!...more info
  • smooth transaction
water bottle was shipped fast and was exactly what i expected. happy with the purchase....more info
  • Seriousy the best water bottle ever!
I bought one of these about 6 months ago and like it so much I have since bought 2 more for my kids. They keep the drink cold and don't sweat (unless you put ice in them, and then they just sweat a tiny bit). There is a hook on them so they are easy to carry around. Very easy to drink on the run as it is like a little sippy cup. The top screws off so you can easily pour water in there. You do need to wash them every now and then. They are plastic, so no worries about breaking them. My kids are very young and they have yet to destroy one - like they have with all the other water bottles I have gotten in the past. ...more info
  • Polar bike water bottle
Freezer and dishwasher safe - meets my requirements. I freeze one nearly full and top it off with more water just before heading out. The other bottle I fill halfway with ice cubes and cool water. It gets insanely hot and humid bicycling here in Florida; by the time I finish the ice cube one, the frozen one is beginning to thaw. I know most people don't drink cold water when they're hot, but I drink more and stay better hydrated with plenty of cool/cold water. Bottles are easy to wash either by hand or dishwasher. We even made a margarita in one and there was no retained taste or smell in the bottle after a quick rinse out. That the "Save the Planet" bottle looks great, too, is a bonus. It's easy to pick out of a sea of other Polar bottles at a rally....more info
  • Water Bottles
These are the best water bottles. Fill them 3 quarters full and put them in the freezer. Then take them out to use and you have cold water all day!!...more info
  • Did not live to it's expectations...
I expected the bottle to keep liquids relatively cool but it's pretty much foil that's used for the polar insulation, a very cheap solution. I do like the volume of water it holds, the fact you can stick it in the dishwasher and the black loop to carry it around. However, it has no acrylic protective cap over the mouthpiece and I end up drinking with the cap off.

  • Yeah, it works!
Yes, this bottle actually keeps fluids colder than a regular bottle. Holds alot, and the top screws off for easy refill. Well built, and sturdy in its design. Easy to use. I will probably buy more. This is a great water bottle, and you cannot beat the price!...more info
  • Keeps it cool, but leaks on my bike
I have 2 of these water bottles, and I love that it keeps my liquids cool. It's just that the lid somehow allows the liquids to leak out just a bit. So by the end of the ride, I have sticky gatorade residue along my downtube. I'd rather have warmer liquids than have to wipe off my bike after every ride. ...more info
  • leaky, leaky
I ordered four of these to use at Disneyland in April and one of them leaks from the cover. They kept my water cold since I added a lot of ice, but my wife's bottle didn't stay that cold. My daughters leaked repeatedly. I guess 3.5 stars really....more info
  • Look elsewhere
The rubber spout split in half after less than six months of minimal riding between home and school. ...more info
  • Water bottle - Best Buy!
Great product, great features! The addition of the handle strap put this product over the top for me - Water is cold, tasteless, orderless, and now, even easier to use than ever. I carry 2 of these water bottles on my road bike and will not doubt purchase again in the future as gifts and extras to have when needed....more info
  • I've had one for years... Just got another.
I stumbled across these when they were only available in one color, the white, quite by chance and bought two. They keep drinks colder longer than a plain old bottle.

My husband started to use them to keep his beer cold -_-. The lager type beer didn't leave any aftertaste once washed out thoroughly. The Guinness however, once left out on the deck during the summer, not only retained an after-stink, but discolored the white plastic as well. I wasn't happy about losing one of my favorite bottles to Guinness-stink, but I let him keep that one as long as he left the other alone.

When I saw the Polar Bottles in colors years later, I couldn't resist. I can't put two 24 ounce bottles in my 17.5" Giant Rincon SE - I have to use a smaller bottle in the upright cage.

But I do go through them both in a couple hours during a summer ride here. I pop them in the freezer, but don't fill one but only half-way. That one I top off with water when I am about to leave so I'll actually have something to drink on the ride. If you just put water in them without freezing them, it does get hot and not quite so nice.

So if you're wondering: if I have to freeze it anyway, what good is it? Well, once frozen, it takes a lot longer to get unpleasantly warm than a regular bottle.

Just don't leave Guinness in them :P

EDIT: I froze both the new and the old Polar Bottles over night, allowing them to thaw to see if there was any difference between the two. Sitting on the counter together for an hour before I went out on a ride, the older Polar Bottle sweat considerably more than the new. I am not sure if this was due to a difference in manufacturing, or due to the age of the bottle, which has been frozen repeatedly over it's lifetime, but the insulation on the older bottle was clearly not working as well as the one I just bought here.

  • Cold and safe
I wanted new water bottles that were free of harmful chemicals, wouldn't sweat and would be able to go in the freezer and the dishwasher. This water bottle does all that IF you keep them in the upper rack of the dishwasher. They are long for that so I lay them on their side. They are so insulated that the water sweating is minimal and the water stays really cold if you freeze a bit of water in the bottle and then add to it. Perfect plus cool colors....more info
  • Keep things cold, but.....
I bought three of these for my kids. They work GREAT for keeping liquids cool, have a nice wide mouth for adding ice, do not freeze their hands when filled with ice water (like my stainless steel one does.)
Unfortunately, two have started leaking :( One ruined some books because it tipped on it's side. They have become a real pain to constantly keep upright in the car, etc. I bought these to keep plastic OUT of the landfill and now it looks like that's where they will end up after less than 6 months....more info
  • Nothing special
I must confess that I was excited about this bottle, but have been rather disappointed. They claim that it is insulated, but only by having a double walled construction; but the plastic is hardly insulating. A previous reviewer stated that there is gel filling within the bottle, but it's merely tin foil that allegedly helps insulate the bottle against sunlight. All in all, I'm not impressed, and would likely find another bottle if I hadn't already purchased this one....more info
  • Great product
This bottle works well and keeps its contents cold much longer than standard bottle. The wide mouth allows the addition of ice to keep things colder longer still. It fits in standard waist carrier (for running) or a bike water bottle holder. It is not intended for hot liquids. The bottle is type 4 plastic which is BPA-free....more info
  • Love them!
Our family loves these water bottles. I have had one for over 6 years, and recently bought different colors for each member of our family. Now everyone is responsible for their own water on outings, and it stays cold! I highly recommend them....more info
  • Great Freeze
I really like this bottle. I freeze about half a bottle of water and then right before I leave i add water to it and I take it to work and it lasts halfway through the day. I just wish it held more... :-)...more info
  • Polar insulated water bottle
This is the greatest bottle ever made! It keeps the beverage colder for much longer than any other I have found. My husband is lost without his, he is an aviator and flys with it every time he goes up. Buy this bottle! It won't let you down. If your looking to have one on a bike ride, the 20 oz. size is best, it fits better in most holders. ...more info
  • Love this water bottle! Great for kids and adults!
I purchased these water bottles after extensive research trying to find the "perfect" BPA-free insulated water bottle. Great for kids and adults, we take them everywhere with us. They're perfect for kids in sports to use during practices and games, as well as for long bike rides and trips in the car. I'm ordering another one for my almost 2 y.o. son as he loves to drink out of everyone else's-lol. No plastic taste for us, just be sure to wash the out before your first use....more info
