Motorola's H500 headset is a member of Motorola's 3rd generation of Bluetooth headsets. Like the RAZR styled H3 headset that it shares many components with, the Bluetooth v1.2 compatible H500 is rated for up to 8 hours of talk time and 150 hours of standby time. However, the H500 is both smaller and lighter than the more industrial looking H3, weighing only .6oz (17.6g) and having a body length of only 2.3" (58mm). As such, it can easily fit in a shirt or pants pocket without trouble. Since it is very solidly built and has no easily breakable parts, you won't have to worry about it getting damaged, either. Recharge your H500 with a miniUSB cable. | Ergonomically, I find the H500 to be the most comfortable and secure fitting of the current lineup of Motorola headsets. The ear-loop is thin enough for use with eyeglasses, yet has a rubber surface that is grippy enough to hold the headset's minimal heft in place for most people. While the ear-loop can be easily removed and flipped for use on either ear, it is not adjustable beyond that. However, when it is flipped, a sensor inside the headset reconfigures the two volume control buttons so that the up volume button is always on the top side, and the down volume button is always on the bottom. The only other control on the H500 is the multi-function button on the outside face of the H500. The button does not require a lot of pressure to activate, thankfully, and handles power on and off, as well as all of the call control features - excluding volume. Those include answering and ending a call, as well as 3-way call control, hold, and mute functionality. Pairing the headset with a phone is a simple task: just hold the multi-function button for an extra few seconds when turning the H500 on, and the blue LED call indicator will turn on. This means that the headset is ready to be paired, and can be discovered with any phone, PDA, or computer that supports the headset or hands free Bluetooth profiles. As is the case for most headsets on the market, the PIN code for the H500 is "0000". The previously mentioned blue LED status light can even be turned off if you don't wish to draw any undue attention to yourself. Normally the LED cycles on and off slowly during a call, and will flash briefly once every few seconds otherwise to indicate that it is powered on. Click the image to see the H500 in action. | In terms of audio quality, the H500 offers great inbound sound and reasonable outbound performance as well. The only issue with the outbound sound is that it is missing some high frequency response, which makes the otherwise full audio sound a little muffled at times. It is a much more pleasant sound than that which many other handsets offer, but is not necessarily as easy to understand. But with that said, the overall audio performance is still quite good. When using the H500 with various mobile phones and PC Bluetooth adapters the connections remained completely static free. Like most of the newer Motorola handsets that we've seen released in the past year or so, the Motorola H500 makes use of a miniUSB connection for power. As such, the headset can be recharged with a Motorola miniUSB power adapter as well as with a regular miniUSB cable connected to a desktop or laptop personal computer, which is often much more convenient. Pros: Small, light Good overall audio Cons: Ear-loop can not be bent to fit The Motorola H500 Bluetooth headset is available in a multiple colors, including a bright pink version that perfectly matches the color of the pink Motorola RAZR V3c that is sold by Verizon Wireless. For as little as the H500 costs, you can hardly ask for more. You won't be disappointed with it. --Reviewed by Michael Oryl, editor in chief of www.MobileBurn.com

Customer Reviews: - Not so great
I bought this for my girlfriend and although she loved it at first, she gave up on it after a bout a month because of its inconsistant performance and lack of comfort.
...more info - Doesnt connect to anything I own
Complete piece of garbage. Wont connect to anything I own, and is near impossible to turn ON half the time.It also CANT be changed to fit on your other ear, the earpiece will NOT come out. Yes, its the H500 in pink. It isnt even pink, its a beige-red.
At the hassle of repackaging the near-leathal deathtrap of packaging this is, and the $8 to ship back, it went in the garbage instead.
Hey, Motorola, you know why you lost Alcatel's contract (I worked for them, also in Motorola's test lab in 2000) and your stock is in the toilet? For reasons like not spending one cent per unit and making the packaging non-lethal....more info - stays put and cute bluetooth
Stays put in my ear...some other models I tried did not. Decent sound...so far I am happy with my purchase and quick ship from Amazon!...more info - Pleasantly surprised
This is my first bluetooth and was afraid I wasnt going to be able to hear. I am hard of hearing to start out with. But I have no problems with this and now am kind of liking being hands free!...more info - Pink motorola H500 Bluetooth
I was very happy when I saw that the pink matched my Verizon Pink Razr. The one form Verizon doesn't match.
My only problem is I have difficulty turning it off, I wind up calling the last person I dialed, so I plug it in to recharge and that disconnects it....more info - Sent it back.
My husband bought the jawbone for me for Christmas based on the website hype. The very first time I charged it the plug cover came off with the plug. I didn't want to send it back and thought that I would glue it back on, until I read some of the other reviews... I didn't want to spend my time worrying when the next thing would break on it. So sadly sent it back. Will buy a plantronics....more info - Definitely Worth the Money
This has been one of the best purchases I've made lately. It's easy to use......I like that the buttons are separated so that I don't have to worry about pushing the wrong buttons while I'm driving. It's comfortable to wear, even with sunglasses. I think the sound quality is great tho I've had one person on the other end of the line say they sometimes heard static or an echo. It charges fast. Definitely worth the price. BTW, I sinc'd it to my Blackberry Pearl....fast and easy. I would recommend this product....more info - Less than average
I bought this earpiece for myself about six months ago. I researched multiple models but ultimately went with this one because of the color. The earpiece does have a long life, as I talk on my phone for at least 20-30 minutes a day and only charge it maybe every two or even three weeks. The earpiece generally stays in your ear, though I notice that the longer I have it, the more it wants to kind of slip off. If the ring that goes around your ear was adjustable, it would probably fit a lot better.
The biggest problem with this earpiece is the reception quality. People to ME sound great and very clear, but nearly every person I talk to hates me using the earpiece because they say its hard to hear me.
So bottom line is that its cute and very easy to use but the quality of sound to your caller is not the best. You'd probably fare better paying a little bit extra for a newer model....more info - Good for what its needed for
This is a nice little headset. Color is obviously for women, but it works well. I bought this for my wife and she likes it. It paired well with both my phone and hers, no problems. Call quality is OK in the car, but if like her, you wear it everywhere, its noise cancellation is not as good as others. Walking down the street sounds like you are in a fishbowl and if the wind is blowing, forget it!
The seller was great and timely. Overall, a solid performance by the seller and an above OK headset for the price and that's the main thing!...more info - Convenient and comfortable
Once you get used to wearing this, it is actually comfortable! I hated it the first couple of days, but finally got it adjusted to where I can hardly feel it. Sound quality (both incoming and outgoing) is great. It beats having to pull over every time I need to make or receive a call on the road. You can't beat the price, either....more info - don't buy
I purchased this to replace the one I lost that was exactly like it. Apparently they weren't made to the same quality standards. The voice/sound recognition on this one is terrible. I can't make any calls by voice command on it, and that defeats my purpose for using it. I will be replacing it today....more info - Bluetooth Motorola earphone
Works great, no problems with interferance, can hear very well while driving in the wind....more info - It's OK
I think this is an OK headset. I don't like how it feels like it is going to fly off my ear. I have had this one for almost 2 years. I don't use it often because sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. At first I really liked it. After awhile not so much. Now I'm on the hunt for a new headset....more info - One word: GREAT
It works great. Good sound quality. Good connection with different cellphones.
It is much better than my platronics one.
Works great with motorola cellphones.
Also work with my LG and Samsung cellphones....more info - bluetooth motorola h500
simple, classy design that is easy to operate. had some slight problems pairing, but after a few tries, was able to pair successfully. comes in multiple colors, recommended for those looking for a simple bluetooth device....more info - Great for the price
I was very concerned when i purchased this item. There was alot of negative reviews on it. When I received it I had to charge it for 2 hours. No biggy. When I tried to connect it to my phone it almost did it instantly. It was so easy. I have a Sumsung phone and it works great with it. No problems....more info - Go big or go home
Not as good as it should be. Bought it for the wife, she liked the pink color. I opted for the H700. H700 way easier to use, longer range, holds a charge better....more info - Glad my dog chewed it up!
I got this bluetooth when I switched to Verizon and bought a new cell phone. I have no complaints with Verizon's service, but this bluetooth was the biggest waste of money! Everytime I tried talking to people on it they said it sounded like I was talking in a tin can--I even tried different volume levels, and always the same complaint. I had people even say to just call them back when I wasn't using it! I was extremely disappointed seeing that whenever I talked to someone else with a bluetooth theirs seemed to be as clear as talking into the phone itself. The voice commands never picked up the right name either, I would say "Beth" and it would say "calling Tim"--how are those two even close??? I hated this thing, and honestly I wasn't too sad when I came home to find that our beagle had pulled some gymnastic moves and got it off our table and completely chewed it up....more info - overall does what it needs to do
My 2 biggest problems with this item is that 1) it doesn't fit too well on my ear, it feels like it's going to fall off sometimes. I don't know if my ears are not the same shape/size for what the device was made for. 2) The main button, which turns the phone on and off and allows you to make calls, seems to get pushed when inside my purse. So sometimes I find it on inside my purse and already connected to my phone. Once it kept calling the last number I dialed, like 6 times in a row, I'm guessing because it just kept getting pushed accidentally inside my purse.
Other than that, I am pretty happy with my bluetooth, especially since it was cheap and it matches my cell phone. I would just say to be careful where you store the thing when you're not using it, because even in a separate bag or pocket in my purse it still manages to get turned on and off! ...more info - It's Alright
It fits comfortably on my ear but I often have a hard time connecting it to my phone and when it is connected the voice quality isn't great. I have to have the volume all the way up to hear. Overall, for the price it's not bad, but it's not great either....more info - Item fine - but where's the package?
When my shipment arrived I was a bit disappointed because I had purchased a new product but it did not come in an original package. I bought this bluetooth for a Christmas gift, so I would have preferred it be in its original packaging (which is why I bought new and not used). However, the ear piece works great, and my wife enjoys it. I also feel better about her driving and talking on her phone!
As far as performance goes, there is a bit of an echoing sound on the other end of the line when she is on it. It is not bad at all - you can just tell that she is wearing it. I have been told that no matter which bluetooth you use there is always going to be some sort of feedback, static, or interference. So overall I am happy with my purchase....more info - Great device
I've been very happy with this headset. It's easy to use and has great clarity for such an inexpensive model....more info - GOOD!!!!!!
I bought as a xmas present and ended up keeping it! I love it, its light it lasts a long time i can hear real good even in noisy places and it holds a charge for a long time!!! AND ITS PRETTY...more info - Actually model H505 - misleading - be careful!
I ordered this for use with my Palm Centro, which has the H500 listed in its supported bluetooth devices. While I'm able to pair them, the Centro will not transfer calls to the device. I've successfully used a number of friends' devices, so I know the Centro can work, but the model number on the back of this little pink Motorola BT device is NOT H500 - it's H505. In searching on Motorola's web site, I can't even find information about this model, except some vague references that it may be a special model created for Verizon. Hmmm - too bad for me, I'm using Sprint. My husband's Motorola Q thru Verizon works great with this device - and he loves it, thus the 3 stars, but it seems to be incompatible with my device. Had Amazon described it with the correct model number, I'd have researched the compatibility with the Palm first....more info - Small, light, comfortable, low price and it works!
I picked this up on Amazon for under $20 after months of thinking about buying one. My needs are small; I'm not on the phone all that much, but in the car a lot. I'm also not overly picky. If it works...I'm happy.
The Motorola is small; about 2.5" long and yet it seems to pick up my voice quite well and the sound quality on my calls thus far has been good. Better than on my Nokia phone! The earpiece is adjustable, and fits my ear very well.
The packaging on this item was kind of weird. Plastic baggie with the charger, bluetooth headset and directions. I guess I expected a box?
The unit charged fully in about 2 hours. My Nokia phone picked it up just fine once I enabled the bluetooth to find it.
All things considered, for the price I paid and what it does. I'm happy with the purchase. The true test will be the item's durability and battery life, which only time will tell. ...more info - great bluetooth
It was sent in a timely manner. It works great. It fits well. It stays on. I do wish it fit more closely. Overall very satisfied....more info - Reason for 3 stars
First of all, I got this headset from one of Amazon's sponsors-cellphoneshop dot net. I liked the sound quality. I would speak to people on the mainland while in Hawaii and they had very few problems hearing me-even inside buildings.
The 3 star rating is for the "fit" of the headset. It always felt loose-as someone else said-like it was going to fall off. If I was not moving/walking it was fine, but start to move and there it would slip.
I shop Amazon often and when this was sold out, cellphoneshop had it for $18.99. It is still the same price as it was when I got mine. I am not sure about color choices though?
I now use a very small Samsung which comes with a charging case. It was a "freebie" with a phone purchase and I like the fit much better.
Hope this helps! ...more info
