• An overall suitable product
  I bought the 2820 because it doubles as a laser printer, and is not much bigger than the inexpensive laser printers on the market. It is capable as a printer, fax machine, and copier, although it is not a flat bed, so you can not copy some things, like a driver's license. The fax machine is not color, but this is consistent with the printer. It is also only a 14.4 kbps FAX, but I don't fax very much anyway, so it's of little consequence. Overall a fine product. Check Amazon sellers who often have this product at a discount....more info

  We purchased this as an upgrade to the one we had. I like it much better as it has a paper tray and keeps the paper clear. No problems....more info
• Goos fax machine for small office
  This is a good fax machine. I really like that it scans your document quickly and then sends the fax so you aren't standing there waiting for it to slowly scan and send each page. It scans, then dials and sends. It also beeps once its gone through so you don't have to stand over it to make sure it went through. It automatically re-dials if it doesn't go through the first time and prints a report to tell you if it doesn't go through at all. So you can leave the machine and know whether or not the fax was successful.
  
  There were a couple reviews that said that it curls the paper when it prints, this is completely accurate. While this can be annoying I don't find it to be that big of a deal.
  
  I also liked how long the toner lasted. My office has had this fax for about a year and I just replace the toner a month or so ago and we get about 10-20 pages in a day....more info
• Good fax , printer , copier
  I just purchased the 2820 from Amazon. I was concerned about the quality and the power surge noted by some in their reviews. As for the quality I have been very satisfied.the paper curl mentioned by some might be caused by using low quality paper, you must use laser quality 24 wt paper The power surge at first gave me some problems,however I purchase a quality surge protecter and I have not had any other problems,also it might be helpful to turn on the fax first thing and then any other computers etc.I have it connected to my computer and use it as a copier and printer and as of now I have not experienced any problems. It does take up lot of space but the unit is well worth it.Overall thi is a very good fax, printer, copier and would recomend it.

• Tone End Life Error Fix
  If you get a Toner End Life error that you can't clear this will work . . .
  
  Open front cover, leave toner cartridge in unit.
  Press options button, when "Replace Drum?" comes up quickly press the Start button. Immediately press the "1" and "0" button. The display will say "Accepted" and the error will go away. Make sure you enter those buttons quickly or it will not take. ...more info

  Brother Intellifax replaced an old Sharp fax machine in the office. Its much lighter, quieter and takes up less room but does all the functions my old fax machine did at one quarter of the price. ...more info

• Good Laser Fax
  Don't receive too many faxes but fax out a lot. Haven't had a paper jam yet. Every other fax I've had, Panasonic to Canon, have all had a jamming problem with outgoing faxes on the feed....more info

  I bought this Brother because I was stupid enough to first buy an Epson and had to ask for forgiveness on more that one occassion due to cursing! I had an old Brother for 15 years and should have gone back to Brother instead of being fooled by the Epson price. You get what you pay for. So far so good with the paper feed and faxing. • Great for the money!
  If you're looking for a personal fax/printer/copier this machine is the one. Sure it's not for someone printing a book, or business with large faxes. But for occasional faxes and copying and printing, it's great. You download the software package but it has all the tools to fax from your pc and print via a usb cable that you have to purchase but can be found cheaply at any discount pc store. The toner and drum, are just about as cheap as any other laser product. I have seen toner for 28 bucks and refurbished drums for 63. If you use it for home use, it should be good enough. For home businesses, i would look for something made for more capacity. The paper tray seems to hold about a 1/2 ream. ...more info

• Oh Brother!
  I bought the Brother 2820 about 14 months ago and used it in a very low volume environment (receive and send 25 pages a week). It always made a lot of noise when powering up (I think this is inherent with this model; I also have a Brother 2070N printer that sounds similar).
  
  The power up noise grew progressively louder (sounding like a jet on the runway powering up for take-off) and caused the office lights to flicker and knocking out my DSL connection.
  
  I ended up scrapping the 2820 and buying a Canon FAXPHONE L170 (which so far has worked great - no power surge at all).

  When the 2820 fax machine powers up there is a tremendous power surge (either receiving a fax or making a copy), the office lights flicker and the surge knocks out my DSL service. This problem started about a week ago. I tried placing a surge protector on the fax then a UPS surge protector. When the fax attempts to power up when connected to the UPS (uninterruptible power supply - battery backup) the surge trips the breaker in the UPS and will not power up. The fax will power up when plugged directly into the outlet but causes the office lights to flicker.

  Please re-read the original post. Plugging directly into the wall outlet does not solve anything. The Fax machine causes a huge power surge when powering up knocking out my DSL connection.

  This is happening because the Brother's fuser unit is trying to warm up and when warming up its going to pull the amount of power needed to perform the task that it receive, and causing other devices on the same circuit to flicker or lose power and we suggest connecting the unit directly to a power outlet that's not on the same circuit as the DSL modem. And that should correct the problem with losing power to the DSL modem.

• Great all-in-one
  The Brother Intellifax 2820 Laser Fax all-in-one had the best reviews for the price that I could find, and I have not been disappointed. I've owned it for 4 months now and it works perfectly for my business need as a primary Printer/Fax machine, and second as an occasional copier. I finally took the plunge and got rid of the ink jet and got a laser. It just got too expensive purchasing new inkjet cartridges all the time, after they kept drying up from lack of use. Now I never have to worry; I'll always have perfect printing, even if the printer sits inactive for months. The only drawback is lack of color printing; my compromise is just to print black ink on color paper! The Brother 2820 comes with a Brother TN350 toner cartridge which is rated for 2,500 pages. So if you're like me a light user at about 30 pages per month, one cartridge will last me 7 years, saving hundreds of $$ in inkjet cartridges!...more info

  Excelleent print quality, good connectability, a couple of negetives: the machine will not print a confirmation on reveived fax, indicating the number of pages received with sender information, some difficulty setting the auto redial on busy numbers. overall the unit is a high quality machine, robust and easy to operate....more info
• Great Fax, Printer & Copier - the only machine you need!
  I have been using this fax/printer/copier for over a year and it is still running great. I run a small business out of my house so this machine has gotten lots of use. The fax works smoothly and handles up to 20 pages+ that I have experienced. As a black/white printer is very fast and accurate. This machine has a lot of great features including letting you know exactly how many pages you have printed out over the life of the machine. And the copier works perfectly.
