Customer Reviews:

  • Very good!
It works so good, the WiFi tech lets you have all the control of your PC. You can stay so long time away of your PC and to manipulate all the programs, your presentations, the screen, etc. It's perfect for me....more info
  • Wow!!! This has been a great tool for my presentations!
I have been using this WiFi presenter for 2 months and have yet had to replace the batteries. I use power point presentations to teach classes for at least 6 hours a day 5 days a week. It has freed me up to actually mix in with the students. I have used this from over 30 feet away and have not had any problems. Granted after a week or so of use the labels disappeared. By then I had the pointer and mouse fuction down pat so it did not matter anyway. I highly recommend this item and other instructors that have used this are purchasing thier own now!!!

After a year and a half I still have not changed out the batteries!!! I would not use any other presenter. It does all that I need it to do!! My best purchase yet!...more info
  • Must have for presentations
Installation is just "plug and play", a great aid for classes and presentations, I love to use it....more info
  • Excellent and has mouse function!
This was an office purchase for my boss. He loves it! Easy to use, works no matter where he stands in a room, and BONUS mouse function. He likes to change screens, so this works great. And, I no longer have to standby to change the slides/screens. The other review about the box is spot-on. Comes in a nice, sturdy box with foam cutouts. I kept it to carry the pointer and USB port in my laptop carrying case. It's all in one place and won't get damaged....more info
  • Be careful if you have a Mac
This product claims to be compatible with Mac, but it didn't work with mine. I have an IBook OSX 10.4.10, and when I plugged the receiver into my USB port, nothing happened. I am not sure if this item was defective, or simply not compatible with my operating system. Beware, and make sure that you can return this if you buy it. I'm disappointed that I wasted the money on shipping for this. ...more info
  • Nice product even though the mouse function not very smooth
After Delta lost my luggage with two laser pointers, it was time to go buy new ones, and I decided to try something more sophisticated - not just a pointer but a remote control device for my PC.

On this PLUS side, this device looks good, feels good in the hand, and takes moments to install. The laser pointer is fine, the PowerPoint clicker is fine, and the power consumption seems satisfyingly low.

On the MINUS side, remote mouse control is nowhere near as smooth as with a regular mouse or touchpad. It feels a bit crude.

I will continue to use this device and maybe will post another review after I've had more exprience with it....more info
  • Excellent
I teach high school chemistry and biology. This pointer allows me to be anywhere in the room while I control the computer and still have a hand held pointer. Although it does take some practice to get good with the mouse it works well, and allows me to launch videos, work with power points and to get a blank screen if I need it. I have been using this for two years and really like it. One other nice feature is that I can move among my students and use the pointer to highlight anything in the room, including lab equipment as I go. Therefore I can see what students are doing while I am presenting....more info
  • Worthwhile purchase
This is great for what I wanted - a long distance control for power point presentations. The mouse is only so so, but at this price and for the good it is at projection control, I am very happy with the product....more info
  • Frredom to Roam
I love this little gadget. It works beautifully, freeing you from a static position behind the lecturn near your laptop. It has increased the effectiveness of my teaching many times over. Wouldn't be without it now. I use Mac OS X, so it was important to me that the device would operate well under this system. And it does. Plug in the USB RF receiver, and it works "out of the box"....more info
  • I'm Satisfied
I use my HIRO 2.4 ghz WiFi laser presenter in a television studio about 30 feet from the computer, located in another room. It works very well in that environment. There was no interference from other equipment. I believe that this was based on the fact that the presenter can be used up to a distance of 100 feet from the source. My only concern, however, is that I have used a similar presenter before, where the words at the side have faded due to frequent usage. I believe it would lead to greater customer satisfaction if the manufacturer could only find a way to make the words more permanent, like embedding the letters in the material....more info
  • Wonderful device
I am a high school science teacher and have found this device very useful in the classroom. It allows me to roam the classroom, keeping order, while lecturing from projected slides/documents/diagrams instead of being tethered to my computer at the front of the room. The pointing device takes a little getting used to, but once you've practiced for about an hour it is fairly easy to control from that point on. The integrated laser pointer is key....more info
  • Very effective and a bargain
I made the mistake to buy the Kensington laser pointer before this one. The Kensington is a good one, very well made, but it is slightly more expensive and lacks the mouse control. I to not know any cheaper model with mouse function. I can maybe prefer a bit the ergonomy of the Kensington, together with the very practical possibility to store the USB receiver inside the unit, but this is probably just my taste and the hiro is quite comfortable either and lighter. My kensington has the embarrassing feature that the laser pointer is interpreted as RETURN on some applications (Exporer on Windows and Opera on Mac OS, for instance). I do not know it that is a bug or if there is some reason for that. However the Hiro does not have this behaviour and that is another reason for which I prefer it.

The wheel system of the Hiro presenter is very practical. Compared with my Kensington I found no difference in the quality of the laser: both do their job perfectly. The mouse control is simple and practlical and it will take a very short time to be confident with it. My unit worked perfectly wothout extra software on both Mac an PC. Overall I am extremely satisfied.

On the minus side, the labels on the button on the side are printed with very poor colours. the "fn" label diapperared immediately after a few days of usage. A bit disappointing, but, after all, nothing really important. The unit also lacks programmable buttons, but I do not know any presenter with this feature.

Bottomline. This presenter works well, it is not expensive, and the mouse control is a true must....more info
  • Undocumented button function is a PLUS
No one has yet mentioned that once you are in a PowerPoint presentation the left mouse button functions as a slide advance button. When you have several speakers at an event it makes it easier to explain to the next speaker that all you need to do is push the left button on the top to get the slides to go forward. It also prevents accidentally escaping out of the presentation or going backwards. The AAA batteries are much more convenient to replace than the button batteries used by some similar presenters....more info
  • Hiro 2.4GHz WiFi Presenter Review
Pros: Reasonable price, immportant features, came w/ batt's, virtually instant set-ups and easy. Excellent versatility viz. PPt, on-screen demos, signal range, size, user-friendliness, teaching tool, etc.

Cons: Built-in F5 and ESC controls could be more precise. Easy to not hit correctly. Reconnecting the Hiro link to computer was very difficult once unlinked....more info
  • Excellent Product
Great Range, easy to use, and easy to install (you just plug it in, I'm using Vista 64 bit)....more info
  • Easy to use; Long Range
I bought this for my wife to use in her classroom. It requires no drivers, so you don't need administrative access to the PC. It works anywhere in her large classroom. Unlike a typical "presentation remote" this also works as a full-functioned mouse - handy if you want to use it for more than just presentations.

The only thing that this one lacks is internal storage for the USB dongle. This is more of a factor for people that are frequently traveling with the device. It does come with a nice carrying box, but may not be the most convenient package for business travelers where size is an issue.

Turning the laser on requires a easily-learned, but not obvious, button sequence. This is great for classroom use since she can use the laser, but students can't play with it easily....more info
  • Great Product. Super Price.
I ordered this after looking around the internet for a reasonably priced presenter with a mouse. The reviews on Amazon helped me decide to buy this and I am not disappointed. Tiger Direct is a great company to buy from and they ship immediately. I am completely satisfied and recommend this to others.

Pros;Price, options, ergonomics, ease of use,
Cons; The mouse button takes some getting used to but after all it is not supposed to be a mouse.

  • Absolutely THE BEST clicker!!!
I have seen several clickers - this one beats them all and absolutely rules! It has a built-in mouse, which is really operational, and most importantly, does not interfere with slide flipping. There is really no way of pressing something by mistake here. You flip the slides using a conveniently positioned button (up/down shifter) on the side of the device. The laser pointer button is right above it. You can also disable the laser option, which might be useful for laser addicts :). Very ergonomic design. Too bad does not have a timer, but hard to expect it at this low price. Comes with an elegant and sturdy travel box. Worth every buck!...more info
  • My Classroom Hiro!
This product works totally as promised. The company's service was excellent, shipping my classroom Hiro as fast as a speeding bullet-point.

I teach children, using my laptop & a projector. I'm seeking to make my instruction more interactive. The ability to have a wifi mouse - for the first time ever - has advanced my instructional interactivity with the kids leaps 'n' bounds. They see it as some kind of Wii remote.

With PowerPoint as my base presentational software, I'm able to use the wifi mouse capabilities on it's interactivity of: (1) Custom animations with & without triggers, (2) hyper-linking to other slides, external documents [such as word documents w. instruction-focused questions] and other programs, (3) Visual Basic ActiveX Controls [Developer Tab], and (4) Embedded Multimedia Controls.

The interactivity is for real time quizzing, questioning 'n' answering and points of levity. The Kids love seeing their input up on the classroom screen. All of this translates to capturing and maintaining their attention. This in turn enhances retention.

The laser pointer is a plus.

The wifi distance allows me to roam the classroom as I instruct. I ain't real fond of nailed-to-the-lectern teaching styles for children....more info
  • Nice for the Price
I work in higher education within the Media Services. I've been contantly looking for a reasonable "clicker" to control ppt's. It has easy to find/replace AAA batteries first of all. You can use the mouse function to double click your file and bring up powerpoint. Once you're in, you push in the side wheel to start, and flick it up or down to navigate through your slides. Then you just hold it down to go back to the edit screen. I tested this on laptops with both XP and 2000, and the unit was running in under a minute without me doing anything other than just plugging in the receiver. Also, I wasn't sure when I purchased it but you can reset the 'id' number to avoid crosstalk between units. I don't have two yet, so I'm not sure if they retain their new 'id' after unplugging...most units do I believe.

The only minor gripe is that you have to perform a secret handshake to activate the laser pointer, but even that is pretty easy.

Great little device, nice carrying case, perfect for the price range.

Update (2008): It's been two years since this review, and I (as well as many instructors) are still very pleased with this device overall. I've used it on newer Macs (OS 10.5) but have not thrown it onto Vista yet. It's still by far my favorite "clicker". Moving the cursor on a Mac seems to be a little slower, but nothing critical. The device is a means of instructor presentation, so the mouse function is mostly for weblinks, playing embedded videos, etc....more info
