Customer Reviews:

  • Good
The performance is good. No problems at all for me. Ppl complain about the battery case, Well, if you can figure it out, its easy. I open the compartment and close it several times a day with out breaking it. I dont think it consumes a lot of battery power(Well, I always take of the batteries after use). The funny thing is the battery arrangement, generally the -ve side of the battery goes towards the spring, but here, one of the batteries go in reverse. So there is a +ve side of one battery going to the spring in the compartment. That was terribly dumb on the manufacturing part.
Another glitch for me was the size. Small is cute but not for men with huge palms. It might be really good for women but it sometimes pains my hand. Now that was a lil dumb on my part to buy a small one.
Something where they could improve is... use a button that is handy to switch of the mouse. The switch off button is like a reset button where you always have to use a pen or pin.

  • disappointing
I love mini mouses because they don't cause cramps in my hand from extended use; however the kensington is so difficult to open to replace batteries, that it's just not worth it. Hard to turn on and off. Batteries do NOT last three months as suggested. More like three weeks with regular use....more info
  • Most issues addressed
In spite of the negative reviews, I decided to try this mouse based on the few positive reviews. It appears Kensington has been paying attention to the complaints. The battery cover opened easily. They've even added a removable cellophane sticker that has arrows showing the direction the cover should be slid to open. I tried to push the startup button on the bottom with my thumb as was suggested in one of the reviews but it was unreliable for me. I ended up pushing it with the screw driver blade on my pocket knife, and it worked fine. The instruction manual (which is still a bit too vague) is now available online at the Kensington web site, as requested by another reviewer. The mouse is tiny, but I had no problem, even with my large hands, getting it to work. I'm using a 15" MacBook Pro and I can maneuver the mouse on the corner of the laptop, below the keyboard and to the side of the touch pad. I wanted a three button mouse to use with Google Sketchup, and it has been working perfectly. The small size and carrying pouch make it perfect for slipping in my computer carrying case. I'm very satisfied, and for the price it's a great deal....more info
  • I'm in Love!
I love this little mouse. It fits my hand perfectly. Since I have a small hand, that's saying something. It's very reliable. Only wish they made a mouse dock!...more info
  • It's only been a week . . .
Had similar problems of earlier reviewers re removing the battery cover and synching to the receiver. To synch it, I did everything in their package documentation and even went to their online knowledge base for alternative methods. Nothing worked. Called their support and they made me repeat everything. Finally, he told me to hold the receiver button and mouse's recessed connect button simultaneously for 15 seconds [need to be a contortionist to do this]. After 15 seconds, he said release the receiver button first, then the mouse button. This worked. Somehow this first successful connect seemed to clear up the problem for my subsequent connect. Now I only have to press and release the receiver button, then depress the mouse's connect button. I also had problem with range, since I have an older laptop which has its USB port in the rear. Next to it, is the AC adapter slot which I use most of the time. And I'm righthanded. The adapter seemed to be shielding the signal from my mouse. I now use a USB cable extender which allows me to bring the reciever practically next to my mouse. This works for me, but may be a real pain for those who really need laptop portability....more info
  • great mouse with some drawbacks...
I paid $30 at Staples because I had to use up some credits.

Most of my comments have been stated... to set up push the battery cover down as indicated and install the batteries in the correct direction. You will see a red light on bottom if installed correctly. Then plug in the receiver, hold the button on the receiver for about 5 secs, and then using a pen or paper clip press in the button on the bottom of the mouse for about 5 secs. You should see a steady light now on the receiver and your good to go.

Minor gripe - battery cover removal feels like you can break it
Major gripe - on/off requires use of a paper clip or pen and the pressing of 2 buttons - not practical, so I'll always leave on which will eat up my batteries....more info
  • Hard to use, does not work well
    Cons
    1. This mouse is hard to use
    2. Needs installing software from the web to get your laptop to recognize it and make it work.
    3. Battery door breaks easily
    4. If you turn it off, very hard to synch up to laptop again. Needs pressing buttons and holding up to USB drive.
    5. My wife got so irritated with its repeated malfunctioning, she threw iut away after a month, and we got a logitech optical wired mouse that we have been happy with ever since.

    Pros: small and sleek....more info
  • Tough to put batteries in the mouse!
Kensington products work great for the most part. But this item is so frustratingly difficult because of the lack of ease of opening the case to place or replace the batteries. You almost have to break the case to access the compartment. This is a major disappointment!...more info
  • Good laptop Mouse
This mouse works great with my Dell laptop, easy to install, no software needed. Quick response when moving around the screen. Be sure to read the directions to find out how to insert the batteries. One drawback; it has a battery saving feature that turns the mouse off when not in use for a while. You have to press a little button on the bottom to start it again, requires a sharp object to reach it. I guess that is better than buying a lot of bateries....more info
  • Impossibly Difficult
It is next to impossible to open this item just to insert the batteries!

That is THE most absurd thing I've seen. What kind of ridiculous engineering is that? Must have been the same guy who designed the Spasmotica sneaker!

That engineer who designed this needs to be deported.

    Extremely infuriating. ...more info
  • Kensington pocket Mouse
great little mouse! I got tired of using the touchpad on my laptop so I got this mouse, very good price! Works well with my laptop and very compact. Easy to install....more info
  • DO NOT BUY THIS: WASTE OF MONEY!!!
Please do not buy this: I bought it since it looked cute and cheap. It was one of my worst decisions ever. The mouse literally cannot catch/send singnal well and the pointer doesn't move!!...more info
  • Doesn't Last Long
This mini mouse worked fine - but only for a while.

I liked the fact that it "went to sleep" after some time, as a way to save battery life. However, It was a bit awkward to get it working again afterwards, since I always had to look up which button(s) to press.

I'm giving this two stars, though, because it *died* after less than a year of use. At one point, it just stopped working. I replaced the battery, but that didn't solve the problem. I tried resetting the mouse following the instructions, but that didn't solve the problem, either.

Basically, the mouse stopped transmitting, and it was unusable from then on. To me, this was a waste of money....more info
  • Great Mouse (but a little small)
I bought this mouse two days ago and its wonderful, except I think its a little too small, although I don't know if its smaller than the standard laptop mouse. I actually use the mouse with my desktop which is underneath a pretty hefty desk. I've had no problems with reception, so I'd try it out and see if it works for you, since its such a good price. ...more info
  • battery hungry and confused
I have used this model for about 6 months. And it will bankrupt me replacing batteries. It also gets confused if I try to use both the laptop touch pad and then switch back to the mouse. My logitech model V220 unit on another PC is flawless and operates on it's original battery forever.
    Get the V220...more info
