Customer Reviews: - It does what a switch is supposed to do.
I received this switch as a gift. To get it to work all I had to do was plug it in to my router and to a power outlet. There was no configuration necessary. I've had it for about a month now and like the title says "It does what a switch is supposed to do." I'm currently using two of the ports and both items that are plugged in have been working fine. For the price you can't really go wrong....more info - Just what I needed
I have a couple of these Linksys Switches alresdy. I needed a couple more and found the best price here. I use Linksys for all my network needs....more info - What's the point of this switch
This was supposed to be a switch because sometimes I use the computer and othertimes my PS3. Everytime you want to use it you have to unplug the cable modem because it cant see the connection. What's the point of this switch, if it forgets constantly that you have a connection. Kinda dumb idea for a product....more info - Great switch
I bought this for use in a dorm room, where I needed to turn one port into multiple ones (For PC, Xbox 360, etc). This switch works great. I plugged it in and it worked right away. I have recommended this product to several friends....more info - Linksys
works good for hooking up extra computer or gaming console, I am happy with it, arrived quick....more info - just the trick
I bought this switch jsut so i could have my Xbox and computer hooked up at the same time, and it has done wonderful. It was easy to hook up, just plug in and go. For just this simple application, this was an excellent purchase....more info - Perfect fit for my needs
I plugged in my workgroup switch, and then plugged in my PS-3, my Dell gaming computer, and my Dell laptop and everything worked just right. Hard to improve on this thing for trouble free installation and operation, and the previous reviews were what guided me to select it....more info - Great Product...but a bit ambiguous
This product did the exact task that I bought it for and works great. I used it to allow my cable internet connection to be split between an online game console and my computer. The only negatives I would say about this product are:
1)The image on this website is a bit deceiving in that it makes the product seem bigger than it really is. It is actually only about the size of a deck of cards. I bought it thinking it was bigger. No biggie. (Pun intended.)
2) The instructions that came with the product were not the easiest to decipher. I actually got the product to do what I wanted it to do through trial and error rather than detailed instructions. Oh well.
In conclusion, the product does what it was designed to do in a discreet and reliable way. End of story....more info - work around for too few network cables
 Linksys EZXS55W EtherFast 10/100 5-Port Workgroup Switch
There are virtually no instructions for this switch. So I just guessed on how to use it and it works perfectly:
EZXS55W linksys work group switch in building #1:
port 1: wildblue satellite modem WAN
port 2: desktop computer
uplink port: 100-ft cable to building #2 (too far for wireless to work)
WRT300N linksys wireless router
WAN port: cable from building #1
router port 1: desktop computer
wireless 'g': laptop & visitors
All desktop, laptop and visiting computers now have access to satellite internet and only one cable was needed for the reach between buildings. So I am happy with my purchase.
...more info - Nice ethernet switch
This Linksys switch does what it's supposed to do. I was able to connect all 3 computers to it and had no issues with operating all 3 at the same time. I trust Linksys's products...more info - Installed With No Problem
I decided to go with an ethernet home network because of its speed and secutity. I had a cable running through the attic to another room where I had a computer attached to the network. I needed to add another computer in that room to the single cable and was not sure how best to proceed.
After doing some research on the web, which included learning the difference between a hub and a switch; I discovered the switch should do the job I needed done. I plugged the ethernet cable from the router into port one, and a desktop into port 2 and the laptop into port 3. It all connected and worked properly once I had set up the laptop to connect to the network. It is now working perfectly and the switch is invisible to the network, but is quietly doing its job.
I am using the Linksys router and switch and they are doing the job I needed done. I am completely satisfied with the product.
...more info - Works.
I bought this little switch because my home network has expended a bit recently. I had been using 4 port netgear wireless router to hook up everything and had already ran a wire to the basement of my house for the Xbox 360. When I added another computer in the basement I needed to be able to run an ethernet cable to it but didn't want to run another cable to the basement. I bought this and hooked up the computer and the 360. I can use both at the same time and it doesn't effect the rest of my network upstairs. I still can connect the 360 as a media center extender and stream music from any of my connected computers. In summary this switch works exactly like I expected....more info - Good for XBOX
I bought this router to split the connection in my room so I could connect to my XBOX and my computer at once, and its working perfectly so far....more info - Linksys EZXS55W EtherFast 10/100 5-Port Workgroup Switch
The switch arrived ontime and works as expected. The power supply block died after a few hours of work. Very disappointing...more info - Excellent way to connect Ethernet devices, but plan for the future
I combined this switch with the Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter to extend my wireless network to wired devices located in a room other than the one that contains my router. This switch gives me extra ports to connect my Slingbox, Ooma, Blu-Ray player, and television to my home network/internet. Since the device is so simple, there's very little that can go wrong with it.
Potential buyers should consider how many devices they want to connect, and then add one or two ports for future devices. Six months ago, I never would have expected to need one Ethernet port, let alone four, in my family room; with changes in technology, you may need to upgrade to a larger workgroup switch sooner than you expect. If you are only worried about Blu-Ray and one or two game consoles, then this switch should be adequate both now and in the near future.
Products that can be connected to this switch:
ooma Core VoIP Phone System with No Monthly Phone Service Bills
Sling Media Slingbox PRO-HD SB300-100
PlayStation 3 80GB
Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-ray Player
Sony Bravia W-Series KDL-52W4100 52-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV
And many more.

I bought this switch for the various devices in my RV. It's small, uses little power, and does what it's supposed to do transparently. It also stacks (using optional stacking bracket) with my linksys wireless bridge and router and cell phone router. With this setup, I can get wireless at campgrounds when available, and easily switch to the cell phone network when it's not.
Dish Network works seamlessly with this system, so I can order PPV without a phone line. My son's Xbox360 can reach Xbox live. This switch is the "heart" of my RV Network....more info - Great switch for the price
I've had one of these switches in service on my home network for 2 years now. So when an old hub I was using quit, I bought another one of these to replace it. It's a quality switch that should deliver years of trouble-free operation. For those not familiar with network gear, a switch expands your network (providing ports for additional computers, printers, etc.) to be plugged into the network far more efficiently than hubs. If you currently use a hub and you upgrade to a switch like this one, you won't be disappointed....more info - just what I needed
I used these products to complete a network of computers where I had 24 computers with only 19 outlets. It let me conect all 24 and network a printer as well. THANK YOU!...more info - Useful and Inexpensive
This is a very useful product for those people who have more devices than they do network jacks. It works, and it's inexpensive. As more and more network-capable consumer electronic products come out, the greater the need will be for devices like these.
I am currently using this product to share a single network jack between a Windows PC and a MacIntosh Pro. Speed is much more than sufficient. Your internet connection speed will be the bottleneck in most cases, not your home network.
One thing to keep in mind though is that not all devices will work if you have this switch between the device and your office network's switch/hub. I could not get the IP telephone at work to function through this switch. However, the computers have no trouble under the same conditions. I confess that I am not knowledgeable when it comes to IP phones though.
This is a very handy device. I highly recommend it....more info - Watch Out for Tech Support Costs!!!
They had free support until just very recently. My beef is with the EXTREME cost of support, 3.99 a minute. ( I don't know if that includes listening for many minutes to bad music.) You can get 3 months support for $199, 6 months for $299 or 1 year for $499!!! I can tell you I spent many hours talking to tech support before this recent change of events. I have had my Linksys router for 3 years. I also had to get a bridge to extend the range because it couldn't go through walls very well. I had to call them a lot because sometimes the bridge or router somehow lost the address. You will need tech support now and again when you change ISPs, go elsewhere....more info - Performs as expected
This switch works like a charm. I am using it with a USR wireless router to expand the wired capability of the router. It's performs without any problems....more info - Great for better printer placement
I purchased the Worgroup Switch because I wanted everyone on my home network to be able to use my network-ready All-in-one graphic printer, yet I wanted it next to my machine in the basement. Instead of running another long cable from my router on my second floor, I added the switch near my basement computer and attached the original network cable from my computer to the Workgroup Switch and then added my computer and the printer with short cables to the Workgroup Switch. There were no software modifications required.
I've noticed no slowdown on the network and I'm very happy with the solution.
...more info - product OK, Linksys tech support absolutely sucks
I like the product but had a question that was not answered by the documentation. I went to the Linksys web page and engaged their tech support via chat. The person at the other end, "Randy W." was rude and obnoxious. I then tried to email a complaint to support@ but it bounced with a message that tech support is no longer available via email. They need to re-engage email and bounce Randy out the door....more info - Linksys EZXS55W
Quick and easy set up. Unit connected flawlessly to my Linksys router. Now all my wired components are actively connected to my now wired and wireless home network....more info - Works exactly as advertised
Bought this switch to connect a couple of PCs and a wireless access point to my router/modem. Performs exactly as a switch should, in a small package, and for a reasonable price....more info - If you need 4 extra ports away from your router ....
... don't hesitate to get this. Small, plug and play -- and for me it has worked for about a year with no problems....more info - d-link switch better
I've used both d-link and linksys switches.
They both fail after a time. The d-link
seems to be a faster switch. I keep thinking
Cisco would have would host the premier
product. Oh well...more info - Switch For My Nephew
I bought this product as a gift for my nephew who wanted to run an xbox 360 and a computer in his bedroom. He installed it in a matter of seconds and was on xbox live within a few minutes......works great....more info - Warranty support is terrible
I bought two EZXS55W units. One worked for nine months before two ports failed. I called Linksys to have it replaced and they told me I had to ship the unit to them before I got my replacement. I talked them into sending a replacment to me first so I could use the same box to return the defective unit. Then they said they would charge my credit card for the full MSRP until they received the failed unit, plus I had to pay for the shipping back to them. I refused, talked to a supervisor, and still no joy. The shipping would cost me almost as much as a new unit. This feedback is not just about the EZXS55W. It's about the company in general. They represent the typical greedy big business with their attitude concerning customer service and their products fail too often. I had two of their routers fail as well. No more Cisco/Linksys for me....more info - It works
Good product and small enough to fit anywhere, not much to go wrong with a switch and nothing on this one has....more info - Very easy to get up and running
If you have a wired connection to your router, and want to branch it to other equipment - this works fine, fast and easily. I bought a DHP-301 to bring my router "downstairs" via the electrical system in my house, and then bought this switch to allow multiple connections in my home office. Not only is it doing the job very well, but I was able to install it myself (without paying for a network administrator) - a huge plus. Linksys has come a long way. ...more info - Duped...Not for Xbox
Shame on Amazon and Linksys for listing this piece of garbage under routers. All I wanted was something that would get my Xbox 360 online, something simple since I don't know much about networking, but that's impossible if my computer is on. So I've wasted $25 on a worthless product and still need a REAL router. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT FOR XBOX. It should make a great doorstop, though......more info
