Customer Reviews:

  • Exposure To A Great Variety Of Questions
    What makes it tick!

    1. A vast library of questions to practice on - Invaluable!

    2. Time yourself on the questions once you are familiar with the test format.

    It's sore points!

    1. It would be great if ETS made an effort to combine this workbook with the power prep software.

    2. Read Comprehension passages are shorter than the actual GMAT (50% of the time). Actual GMAT passages usually runs between 40 to 60 lines. So skip the shorter passages if your time is limited....more info

  • This is the real thing, but little help to the Gmat novice.
I find this book extremely helpful because of the verisimilitude: this IS the real thing, with questions used in real ETS GMAT tests. What i do not appreciate about it is that many of the explanations are deliberately awkward and unclear....more info
  • Concise, simple and useful.
This book is a very good way to start the training for the GMAT, is very concise with useful exercises and a have an excellent price. Every person that have plans for taking the GMAT needs this book. The problem is that is not sufficient with this book, you'll need to get an extra practice book preferably with a CAT's version of test in CD. I recomend for this the Kaplan book with the CD (not the 99 edition without the CD!) but I does not recommend the ETS's PowerPrep software because is expensive and have the same questions that you'll found in the book....more info
  • Poor
The math questions are much too easy--easier than you find on the real GMAT. The verbal sections give an accurate picture of the difficulty level one encounters on the real thing....more info
  • Excellent Preparation
I found the ETS Official GMAT prep materials to be the best after doing my own research. The bottom line: ETS makes the test. Who is in a better position to prepare you? I scored better than I expected after four weeks of preparation. I also tried Kaplan - don't bother....more info
  • Real questions are the only to prepare for the GMAT
Don't believe any of the reviewers who claim that the "math" (one can only assume that these people are referring to the quantitative) questions are easier than the ones on the real test. These are ACTUAL questions from ACTUAL exams!

In fact, GMAT questions are copyrighted by ETS, so the ONLY way to find questions that appear on the real tests is to study the official ETS review. The GMAT tests a person's ability to think along certain lines, and the only way to prepare for such an exam is to do ACTUAL exam questions until thinking along those lines is familiar and comfortable. ETS publications are the only sources for actual GMAT questions and are therefore significantly superior to all other test preparation guides and reviews....more info

  • A good GMAT practice book with good explanations
This book covers the basics of all topics for the exam, however, the level of difficulty of the questions does not vary. I've done most of the questions and am now more confident about the test....more info
  • A must-read
I have read a number of books on GMAT, and this is the only one that contains real GMAT questions, not those weird, simulated questions. This book helps you to establish a correct understanding of the difficulty level of GMAT questions. Also, with the detailed explanations of each question and the authority of ETS, it certainly qualifies itself as a must-read among so many books on GMAT....more info
  • The quintessential review for the GMAT
The book is the place to go if you want to get ahead with your GMAT. The Math review was particularly helpful in brushing up mathematical concepts and relationships. The numerous questions slowly develop a feel for the exam and with it, more confidence. I suggest getting the book and the software (which comes separately). I used the book to review concepts and go through the questions slowly, this built answering strategies. I then used the software to simulate exam conditions which built speed and accuracy. It was the perfect combination. I had the book for one week before the exam and still managed to walk in to the exam confidently and walk out with an above average score. Good Luck!...more info
  • Very Good customer service
I was supposed to get it just a couple days after I purchased it online, but the USPS messed up so the package was lost somewhere. I contacted them, and they immediately sent me another one. The customer service was very responsive and quick. 5 stars!...more info
  • OG + EZ = Right Formula for High GMAT Score!
I bought the GMAT Official Guide along with some of the EZ Solutions GMAT books and so far they have proved to be a perfect combination.

Following is the method I adopted and it has been working very well for me:
First, I try to understand the concept from the EZ books; then, I solve the related problems from their workbooks; and then at last, I solve the same types of problems from the OG. The only problem I faced is that even though the problems are nicely segregated in the EZ books for each topic, I have to cherry pick the related problem from the OG because they are all mixed up.

By applying the above method I feel I am mastering each topic from the EZ books and then solving the related problems in the OG to make sure I fully understand the concepts. For certain trivial topics, such as, permutation/combination and probability, I have to refer back to the EZ books, but I'm sure that with practice I will get better with them.

I really hope that I was able to help at least some of you who are still trying to figure out the best approach to prepare for the GMAT....more info
  • Essencial for GMAT preparation
This is the new released version of the GMAT preparation book. Just essencial if you want to prepare the test....more info
  • Extremely Helpful
This book does an excellent job at teaching and testing on the ideas one will find in the GMAT....more info
  • GMAT survivor
I just took the GMAT and found that the math questions in this review book were NOTHING like the level of difficulty on the actual exam. I studied using two different Kaplan books and took a review course. I bought this book for extra practice and did every math problem listed. I swear, the actual exam was nothing like the book problems. [...]. If you are looking to save money, I would def. skip this book!

Good Luck! The exam sucks!...more info
  • The ultimative GMAT book!
The only way to real GMAT questions with a fantastic "Math review". Maybe you need another book which explains how to tackle the GMAT questions (eg Cracking the GMAT), but then start studying the official guide as soon as possible. Be aware! If you consider doing all the questions, it takes a lot of time....more info
  • Great review guide!
I ordered the book with less than two weeks before the exam. I found it very helpful. The math review was very useful. My money was well spent....more info
  • Math Review Section Very Helpful
I ordered this book just two weeks before I took the exam. Because of the short amount of time, I was not able to read the book from cover to cover, however, I found the math review section to be very helpful. I have not had algegra or geometry for 10 years before taking the exam, and found the examples in the book to be easy to understand. There are practice questions, followed by an answer key, and then a review section that explains how to figure out each of the questions. This format gives you a chance to check your answers as you go, or to use it like a practice exam, and then review how well you did after you complete all the practice questions. The only thing that could improve this approach would be to include a CD-Rom practice test with the book. The information provided at the beginning of the book was exactly what you see when you sit down at the computer to take the GMAT. I did have a little trouble with some of the algebra examples because the example would in some cases combine 2 steps, and I really needed to see the problem worked out step by step, but that is my only complaint. Definitely worth the $22....more info
  • Math is too easy!
The math sections (and data sufficiency) are too easy. Expect much harder problems in the real exam. The verbal sections are okay. Look at the AWA section, it has "real" essay questions in there!!...more info
  • GO TO THE GMAT SOURCE
This is a great final step in preparing for the test. There are no GMAT strategies contained in the text BUT there are over 1,000 real GMAT questions to practice on. If you are like me and you didn't take the review courses (Princeton/Kaplan), I highly recommend this book....more info
  • Can't get much better than straight from the source
When preparing for your GMAT you want to try to practice with questions that are as close as possible to what you'll see on Test Day. The Official Guide is full of them! Although this book won't give you much in terms of advice (check out a Kaplan or PR book for this), it will give you plenty of opportunity to test your skill level. Using this in conjunction with one of the books mentioned above is a very effective method of getting ready. Good luck to all on your test!...more info
