networks. Here we see the drag and drop interface used to generate test scenarios.
NetIQ: The NetIQ VoIP management line includes Vivinet Diagnostics, Vivanet Assesor, and AppManager for VoIP. Vivinet Diagnostics pinpoints call quality problems in VoIP networks and explains why there is reduced call quality, providing troubleshooting for both pre- and post-deployment environments. Vivinet Assessor quickly determines how well VoIP will work on a network prior to deployment. AppManager for VoIP monitors the performance and availability of IP phone systems and applications. NetIQ's company headquarters is in San Jose, California (www.netiq.com-408-856-3000).

At the bottom of the photo is RADCOM's R1000 Pentium 4 2U rackmount platform, which boosts performance for most RADCOM Performer VoIP testing applications. Above the R1000 is the portable version, the P1000, which runs PerformerLight software.

RADCOM: RADCOM's PerformerT VoIP testing system supports pre-deployment and recurring testing of VoIP system performance. The next-generation network VoIP solution helps users generate realistic network environment stress levels on new VoIP devices and applications, and test the quality and grade of service delivered. An integrated hardware and software solution, the complete Performer VoIP suite includes H.323 and SIP simulator tools, a protocol decode tool, and a scripting tool. There's also a portable version, PerformerLight. The company's global headquarters is in Tel Aviv (www.radcom.com-800-RADCOM-4).
Shunra Software: Virtual Enterprise is a software and hardware combination that delivers an exact replica of a production environment, including WAN, remote offices, end-users, and background traffic. It gives users an environment to safely test and experiment with the network, VoIP phones, and infrastructure under production environment conditions. The system allows users to select the appropriate VoIP infrastructure for networks, understand how the VoIP system will perform in production and affect other applications, and test VoIP quality under peak load and other worst-case conditions. Privatelyheld Shunra has its headquarters in Kfar Saba, Israel (www.shunra.com-212-279-8895).
Spirent Communications: With over 1500 global customers, Spirent provides a comprehensive range of network testing equipment and services. The winner of multiple awards, the Abacus 5000 IP Telephony Migration Test System is a single platform solution that provides both IP and PSTN telephony testing. It includes integrated analog, TDM, and Ethernet interfaces for testing of all converged IP Telephony network elements, and generates real voice streams to simulate real-world loads. It also performs real time voice quality measurements with an objective test methodology. Other test methodologies include conformance, functional, decode, performance, and interoperability testing. Spirient's corporate headquarters is in Rockville, Maryland (www.spirentcom.com-301-590-3600).
Tektronix: The Spectra2 integrated testing solution for VoIP and Converged Networks lets carriers and equipment manufacturers test signaling, media, and conformance in legacy and next-generation networks. It provides an integrated solution with a scalable architecture for multi-protocol analysis, with up to 16 PCI slots available in the rackmounted version and 6 PCI slots in the portable one. It also includes an API for remote access and testing. A Large-Scale Load solution is available for testing with OC-3 and Gigabit Ethernet interfaces. Tektronix's headquarters is in Beaverton, Oregon (www.tektronix.com-800-833- 9200 Option 1).
tekVizion PVS: tekVizion offers both VoIP consulting services and an independent certification lab. The FastForward practice provides expertise for service providers seeing to offer VoIP or hosted IP Centrex/PBX services, including network design, dial plans, customized portals for end-users and operators, end-point and network interoperability testing, installation, back-office and network integration. tekVizion also provides ongoing applications support, including monitoring and preventive maintenance. tekVizion Labs offers third-party interoperability testing and certification of VoIP products and services. Testing services include both remote and on-site testing, with lab services available to both vendors and service providers. Privately-held tekVizion is headquartered in Richardson, Texas (www.tekvizion.com-877-984-9466).
Viola Networks: NetAlly VoIP is a fully software-based system and can be operated from a single physical location via a web browser. It includes powerful and flexible Microsoft Word report generation that can be quickly customized. The software package was specifically built for use in operational networks, not from a modi- fied lab tool. Results include VoIP silence suppression, jitter buffer, and packet loss concealment. System setup is done via automated graphical interfaces. Privatelyheld Viola has its headquarters in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania (www.violanetworks.com-866-571-2500).
