Groups customers in visit plans and assigns visit calendars and routes. During sales order entry, the requested delivery date can be suggested in alignment with visit plans from direct delivery dates for the respective customer. The route is then taken from the visit plan.
With this assignment, the customer appears on the route itinerary of the delivery driver for the given day.
Allows Order Entry via telephone sales and route sales. Monitors contact with customers directly at preset calling times via a Telephone Call Center to generate orders or by customers calling into the call center at their convenience to place orders. Increases sales and customer satisfaction due to proactive customer engagement via the Telephone Call Center. Gives the call center agents sales history, new item information, and promotional items to help up-sell the customer. Creates a one-to-one relationship between the call center agent and customer to build a lasting relationship. Offers supervisor functions to review calling activities and to balance and monitor workload across the call center. Supports a sales representative visiting the customer if a face-to-face approach is required to collect orders to be delivered at a later date. Provides a visit list according to the customers visit schedule to guide the driver through his day.

Schedules deliveries once all the orders are taken. Generates optimized shipments by grouping customer deliveries, based on vehicle, driver, and customer sequence with consideration of vehicle, driver and tour restrictions. Optimizes all deliveries by matching vehicles and drivers to customers using DSD route planning tools. Maximizes the utilization of drivers and vehicles and reduces costs. Draws up a day's routes comprised of a different set of customers.

Provides an interface to a third party optimization tool to optimally palletize the load and determine where to put the pallets according to the material's length, width, and height, maximum truck weight, and other parameters. Calculates axle and kingpin weights as well as a three-dimensional center of gravity. Minimizes picking efforts by creating vehicle triggered pick slips and minimizes unloading time by taking, e.g., unloading sequence and customer's side load preference into consideration with the Vehicle Space Optimization tool. Supports both side load bay trucks and bulk trucks with trailers. Supports mixed, customer, and material specific pallets as well as customer-specific limits on pallet height and stacking preferences of the materials via pallet construction algorithms. The VSO interface has an open design and was developed and tested together with our first partner, Logiplan.

Includes all physical activities for fulfilling an outbound delivery or shipment through the Goods Issue process in the SAP Warehouse Management system. Calculates rough workload estimates in advance of the actual process, picking waves to group the activities efficiently, and pick and pack functions.

To fully utilize this functionality, the following products should be evaluated
Manages handheld applications in conjunction with SAP's DSD solution to be used primarily by the delivery driver and pre-seller roles. Connects the handheld device to the backend systems via SAP's Mobile Engine. Provides the core backend route processing logic, and the necessary handheld interfaces through R/3 based Route Accounting. Validates loaded products and possibly cash on vehicle. Allows an independent supervisory person to confirm the amount of materials placed on the truck or report differences to the handhelds on truck stock. Allows a supervisory person to confirm checked-in quantities of full goods, empties returns, and collected cash. Monitors a delivery with or without a pre-sold order or a change of delivery quantities, processes returns, creates and issues invoices, collects payments against current and open invoices, issues payment receipts, takes order for future delivery, records driver expenses, and pre-settles routes.
